Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a scrubbing composition containing an aqueous solution of 2-(3-aminopropoxy)ethan-1-ol. The scrubbing composition is especially suited for use in removing acid gases, such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, from gas streams.
Abstract:
A tertiary amine, such as a tertiary amine catalyst that is useful in the production of polyurethanes, may undergo decomposition, which may result in the production of undesirable products. These tertiary amines, however, may be treated with a primary amine containing material to reduce the presence of the undesirable products to an acceptable level. Thus, a foam made from a treated tertiary amine will also have a reduction in the presence of the same undesirable products.
Abstract:
Polyurethanes made using compounds of formula A: Q-(R6)-M-(R7)-NR3R4 where Q is OH or NR1R2; M is O or NR5 where R5 is R1 or H; R1 is alkyl or an alkylene alcohol of from 1 to 6 carbons, especially CH3, CH2CH3, or CH2CH2OH; R2 is alkyl or an alkylene alcohol of from 1 to 6 carbons, especially CH3, CH2CH3, or —CH2CH2OH; R3 is hydrogen or alkyl of from 1 to 6 carbons, especially H, CH3 or CH2CH3; R4 is hydrogen; where R6 is an alkylene group of from 2 to 5 carbons; and wherein R7 is an alkylene group of from 2 to 5 carbons. Illustrative catalysts of this invention include but are not limited to N,N,N′-trimethylbis(aminoethyl)ether, dimethylaminoethoxypropylamine, and (3-aminopropyl)(2-hydroxyethyl)methylamine.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an amine catalyst composition for producing polyurethane foam. The amine catalyst composition includes an amine catalyst and a diluent containing a thickening agent and water. The use of such a diluent, in place of conventional glycols, reduces raw material and processing costs as well as environmental concerns during the production of polyurethane foam.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, an amine-oxidation inhibitor, such as a free radical scavenger and/or antioxidant, is added to an oxidation-sensitive amine, such as an amine catalyst, to inhibit oxidation of the amine. The inhibitor-treated amine may then be used in an application such as a polyurethane application to reduce the emission of undesired oxidation products from the polyurethane.
Abstract:
A process for the separation of a first amine having a tertiary amine group and a secondary amine group such as N,N,N′-trimethylbis(aminoethyl)ether from a di-tertiary amine such as N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylbis(aminoethyl)ether, comprising: contacting a mixture of the first amine and the di-tertiary amine with a carbonyl compound capable of forming an enamine such that the carbonyl compound reacts with the first amine to form an enamine; separating the enamine from the di-tertiary amine; and subsequently converting the enamine to the first amine.
Abstract:
An amine solvent solution that is useful in absorbing acid gases from a liquid or gas feed stream may have an amine additive added thereto. Additionally or alternatively, the amine additive may be added to a liquid or gas feed stream. The addition of the amine additive decreases the presence of amine-derived contaminants and/or degradation of amine in the amine solvent solution. As such, the amine solvent solution is available for effective reuse in treating the liquid or gas feed stream and there may be a decrease in the corrosion within an amine treating system.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions are provided for forming a catalyst. In one aspect, the catalyst is formed by mixing at least one tertiary amine with at least one polymer acid. Such catalysts are particularly useful in the polymerization of polyurethane foams.
Abstract:
Lignocellulosic composites are made by pressing a mixture of a particulate lignocellulosic material with polymeric MDI, in the presence of a fatty amine ethoxylate anti-masking agent.
