Abstract:
NEW AND IMPROVED SHRINK TUNNEL COMPRISING HOT GAS GENERATING MEANS FOR THE SHRINK WRAPPING OF THERMOPLASTIC LOAD WRAP MATERIALS IS PROVIDED, AND INCLUDES SHRINK TUNNEL SUPPORT MEANS WHICH FUNCTION TO BOTH SUPPORT THE SAID SHRINK TUNNEL AND PROVIDE MEANS FOR DIRECTING SAID HOT GASES GENERALLY TANGENTIALLY OF SAID THERMOPLASTIC LOAD WRAP MATERIALS TO SHRINK-WRAP THE SAME.
Abstract:
There is provided a continuous motion skin-packaging machine and method for the production of air-evacuated see-through film-onfilm packages of products. One of the film layers is softened by heat and is contoured around the product. Also, provision may be made for the introduction of an inert fluid, for example, nitrogen, into the package after the removal of air therefrom.
Abstract:
The apparatus is an impulse, radiant sealer for heat sealing thermoplastic films for packaging various goods. The apparatus includes means for supporting a flexible wire sealing element freely in space, under light spring tension, and for bringing the sealing element into contact with the films to be sealed, with the films being held flat at the seal area. The apparatus also includes means for heating the sealing element to a high temperature such that the thermoplastic films are sealed together very rapidly. Because of the high temperature of the sealing element and the high rate of speed with which the seal is made, the effect is such that the apparatus operates as a radiant sealer, and the seal has the appearance of having been made by radiant heat.
Abstract:
NEW AND IMPROVED, AUTOMATIC METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE WRAPPING OF ARTICLES IN WRAPPING MATERIALS FROM A SINGLE CENTER FLODED SUPPLY OF THE LATTER ARE PROVIDED AND ARE EFFECTIVE TO WRAP SAID ARTICLES BY THE COVERING OF THE RESPECTIVE SIDE, END AND TOP SURFACES THEREOF. THE APPARATUS COMPRISE MEANS TO WITHDRAW THE WRAPPING MATERIAL FROM SAID SUPPLY AND FORM AN INVERTED, GENERALLY U-SHAPED TUBE THEREOF, MEANS TO MOVE ARTICLES INTO SAID TUBE AND TO ADVANCE SAID ARTICLES SAID TUBE, AND MEANS TO CUT AND SEAL SAID TUBE ADJACENT THE RESPECTIVE LEADING AND TRAILING END SURFACES OF THE ARTICLES TO COMPLETE THE WRAPPING THEREOF. GUSSET FORMING MEANS ARE PROVIDED AND THE OPERATE CONCOMITANTLY WITH SAID CUTTING AND SEALING MEANS TO FORM GUSSET IN SAID WRAPPING MATERIAL TUBE ATTENDANT THE CUTTING SAID MATERIAL, PRODUCED BY SAID CONTROL ANY EXCESS WRAPPING MATERIAL PRODUCED BY SAID CUTTING AND SEALING AND PROVIDE FOR THE CONVENIENT CONTAINMENT OF ARTICLE INDENTIFYING LABELS OR LIKE IN THE ARTICLE WRAPPING.
Abstract:
A ROTARY FILM-PREFORATIN DEVICE IS PROVIDED WITH A PLURALITY OF NICHROME OR OTHER METALLIC NEEDLES WHICH ARE ELECTRICALLY HEATED BY CURRENT FLOWING THROUGH THE NEEDLES SO THAT THE HETING EFFECT IS CONCENTRATED IN THE NEEDLEW WHICH PERFORM THE PREFORATING OPERATION.
Abstract:
Apparatus provided for the feeding of articles attendant the wrapping and sealing thereof in printed, center-folded webs of article-wrapping film materials and comprises means to move said articles, means to move said article moving means, and means to discontinue movement of the articles by the article moving means despite the continuation of the movement thereof by the means to move the same. Said article moving means and the means to move the same may take the form of mechanically connected fluid actuated piston-cylinder assemblies, and means which take the form of detecting means to detect print registration marks which are formed on said web, are included to operate said article movement means to discontinue movement thereby of said articles upon detection of a said print registration mark.
Abstract:
A pallet load of product is secured onto a pallet by enclosing the load including the top thereof in thermoplastic film which is heat shrunk to the load, to a sheet of thermoplastic film on the pallet under the load, and to the edge of the pallet therearound. The load enclosing film may be an inverted bag which covers the top and side of the load and the lower end of the bag is fused to said sheet which is on the pallet under the load. Alternatively, the side of the load may be covered by a sleeve of thermoplastic material and the top of the load may be covered by a separate sheet to which the sleeve is fused. Also, layers of thermoplastic sheet material may be disposed between layers of the pallet load and heat sealed to the sleeve which surrounds the pallet load.
Abstract:
A pallet load of product is secured onto a pallet by forming a sleeve of heat-shrinkable film around the pallet load with its open top extending above the pallet load and its open bottom extending below the platform of the pallet. One or both of the top and bottom surfaces of the pallet load are covered with a sheet of heat-shrinkable film having a portion extending beyond the corresponding surface. The sheet or sheets and the sleeve are shrunk and fused around the pallet load.
Abstract:
Apparatus for shrink wrapping an object comprises a rotary platform for rotating an object wrapped in a heat-shrinkable film and heat-shrinking apparatus for heat shrinking the film around the object during rotation of the rotary platform. The heat is provided as hot air blown on the object in vertically and horizontally extending lines.
Abstract:
A pallet-load of product is secured onto a pallet by forming a sleeve of heat shrinkable film around the pallet-load with its open top extending above the pallet-load and its open bottom extending below the pallet. The bottom and the top portions of the sleeve are initially shrunk to lock the sleeve onto the pallet-load and the pallet, and subsequently the intermediate portion of the sleeve is shrunk to unitize the assembly.
