摘要: A touch panel includes plural first electrodes extending in a first direction, plural second electrodes extending in a second direction different from the first direction, a driving circuit, a detection circuit, and a coordinate-position calculating circuit. The driving circuit sequentially selects two first electrodes out of the plural first electrodes, supplies a high potential voltage higher than a reference voltage to one of the selected two first electrodes, and supplies the reference voltage to the other, the detection circuit detects a capacitance difference (A-B) between a capacitor A between a selected one of the second electrodes and the first electrode to which the high potential voltage is supplied and a capacitor B between the selected second electrode and the first electrode to which the reference voltage is supplied, and the coordinate-position calculating circuit calculates a touch position on the touch panel touched by the observer on the basis of positions of the selected first and second electrodes and the capacitance difference (A-B).

摘要: It is an object of the present invention to allow a specified function to be readily selected in a mobile telephone or the like without performing a complicated operation. A liquid crystal (30) is sandwiched between a TFT substrate (10) and a color filter substrate (20). A photosensor TFT (130) for selecting the function is disposed on the periphery of an effective screen of the TFT substrate (10). A window (24) is provided in a portion of the color filter substrate corresponding to the photosensor TFT (130), and the outside light is blocked as a result of the user touching a finger to the window. A signal from the photosensor is used for selecting the function. A correction sensor TFT (133) is disposed adjacent to the photosensor TFT (130), to thereby eliminating noise caused by the temperature distribution, stray light, or the like, and erroneous operation of the photosensoris prevented.

摘要: A touch panel includes plural first electrodes extending in a first direction, plural second electrodes extending in a second direction different from the first direction, a driving circuit, a detection circuit, and a coordinate-position calculating circuit. 摘要: A photosensor for selecting a specific function is arranged around an effective screen. A window is formed in a portion of a display substrate corresponding to the photosensor. When a user touches the window with his/her finger, an external light is interrupted and a signal is generated, and the signal is used as a signal for selecting the specific function. The photosensor and peripheral circuits are formed using a process substantially equal to, a process for forming a TFT of a pixel portion and hence, the increase of a cost can be suppressed.

摘要: The present invention provides a display device having an illuminance detection circuit. The illuminance detection circuit includes: a photosensor which changes an optical current in response to illuminance of an external light; a capacitor which discharges a charge when the optical current flows in the photosensor; a comparator which compares a voltage at one end of the capacitor and a comparison reference voltage; a switching circuit which is connected to one end of the capacitor and charges the capacitor in response to a level of an output signal of the comparator; and a selection circuit which applies either a first voltage or a second voltage to the other end of the capacitor in response to the level of the output signal of the comparator.

摘要: The present invention provides a display device having an illuminance detection circuit. The illuminance detection circuit includes: a photosensor which changes an optical current in response to illuminance of an external light; a capacitor which discharges a charge when the optical current flows in the photosensor; a comparator which compares a voltage at one end of the capacitor and a comparison reference voltage; a switching circuit which is connected to one end of the capacitor and charges the capacitor in response to a level of an output signal of the comparator; and a selection circuit which applies either a first voltage or a second voltage to the other end of the capacitor in response to the level of the output signal of the comparator.

摘要: Provided is a display device with a touch panel having the cost thereof reduced without a decrease in the transmittance ratio of light. A substrate has a planar transparent conductive film formed on an observer side thereof. The transparent conductive film is used as a transparent electrode of an electrostatic capacitance coupling type touch panel. A position detection pulsating voltage production circuit that inputs a pulsating voltage for position detection, and a coordinate position arithmetic circuit that computes a touched position on the transparent conductive film touched with an observer's finger are included. The transparent conductive film is shaped to have four corners. The position detection pulsating voltage generation circuit applies the position detection pulsating voltage to each of the four corners of the transparent conductive film at different timings. When the position detection pulsating voltage is applied to one of the four corners of the transparent conductive film, the coordinate position arithmetic circuit computes the touched position on the transparent conductive film, which is touched with the observer's finger, on the basis of a voltage outputted through the corner diagonally opposite to the corner to which the pulsating voltage is applied.
