An information processing system for controlling usage of a service to be provided to a user via a device, obtains information on an amount of resource usage by a server in providing the service, determines whether the amount of resource usage satisfies at least one condition of a plurality of conditions previously set, and when the amount of resource usage is determined to satisfy at least one condition of the plurality of conditions, performs, in accordance with the at least one condition, at least one of a plurality of control operations including a control operation for changing a screen displayed by the device and a control operation for restricting accumulation of the jobs in the second server.

An image forming apparatus receives authentication information about a user who requests a function and determines whether the user needs to be authenticated before executing the requested function. The image forming apparatus then transmits the authentication information to an authentication device that performs authentication of the user, and receives an authentication result from the authentication device indicative of whether the user is authentic. The image forming apparatus executes the function specified in the request only when the authentication result shows that the user is authentic.

An information processing system, apparatus and method are provided. The information processing system receives input of a service scale of a user service from a terminal device, determines a charge plan, performance, and optimum number of virtual servers for providing the user service with a usage amount and number of devices included in the service scale that is received, by referring to a table in which the performance and the charge plan of the virtual server are associated with each other, and displays information including the charge plan and the number of virtual servers that are determined.
