The method may advantageously be carried out when the base station 210 is operating in a shared cell 200. The base station receives a channel-state report from a user equipment. Also, a channel quality parameter is estimated by the base station 210. Furthermore, the base station 210 selects the transmission rank (e.g. transmission rank 1 or transmission rank 2) on the basis of the received channel-state report as well as the estimated channel quality parameter.

The base station allocates resources to a User Equipment, UE.When a first criterion is fulfilled for the allocated resources, the base station estimates Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio, SINR, by using a first gain offset. The first gain offset relates to a resource allocation according to the first criterion.When a second criterion is fulfilled for the allocated resources, the base station estimates SINR by using a second gain offset. The second gain offset relates to a resource allocation according to the second criterion.The base station then selects a transport format for the allocated resources based on the estimated SINR.

SPS transmissions and automatic retransmissions are applied for the at least two wireless devices. A time difference between an SPS transmission and an automatic retransmission related to the SPS transmission is determined by a round trip time value. The method comprises determining at least two different sets of frequency resources for the SPS transmissions of the at least two wireless devices. The disclosed method comprises the step of selecting a set of user equipments connected to the scheduling node. The present teachings relates to a method for sector selection performed in a network node of a communication system. The communication system comprises two or more sectors using a common cell identification, the two or more sectors each providing uplink and/or downlink connections to wireless devices located within a coverage area of the sectors. The method comprises: estimating, for a wireless device, a sector combining gain, wherein the sector combining gain is related to an increment in spectrum efficiency for the wireless device, and selecting one or more of the sectors for use by the wireless device based on an adjustable sector selection criterion, wherein a sector is selected if the estimated sector combining gain fulfills the adjustable sector selection criterion.
