Abstract: The present invention generally relates to heart treatment systems. In some aspects, methods and systems are provided for facilitating communication between implanted devices. For example, an implantable cardiac rhythm management device may be configured to communicate with an implantable blood pump. The implantable cardiac rhythm management device may deliver heart stimulation rate information in addition to information associated with any detected abnormalities in heart function. In response, the pump may be configured to adjust pumping by the pump to better accommodate a patient's particular needs.

A method of supplying electrical power to a medical device includes discharging a first external battery to output electrical power to a second external battery. Distribution of the electrical power received by the second external battery is controlled to simultaneously charge the second external battery and output electrical power from the second external battery to supply electrical power to the medical device.

Abstract: A system for locating an implanted device including magnetic coils within a subject is provided. The system includes a magnetic sensor array including a plurality of magnetic sensors, the magnetic sensor array configured to measure a magnetic field generated by the implanted device, and a position detection module communicatively coupled to the magnetic sensor array, the position detection module configured to receive the measured magnetic field from the magnetic sensor array, and calculate a position of the implanted device based on the measured magnetic field.

Abstract: A resonator for use in a wireless power transfer system is provided. The resonator includes a core including a front surface, a back surface, and an annular sidewall extending between the front surface and the back surface, wherein an annular groove is defined in the front surface and surrounds a post, and wherein a cavity is defined in the back surface, the post and the cavity aligned with a longitudinal axis of the core. The resonator further includes a coil element disposed within the annular groove.

A method includes drawing a flow of blood into a blood pump, passing the flow of blood through the blood pump such that heat flow is conducted to the flow of blood via the thermal conductor, and outputting the flow of blood from the blood pump.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for improved cooling of an implantable blood pump are disclosed herein. The implantable blood pump can include: a pump housing defining an internal volume and including a wall defining a blood flow conduit extending through the pump housing; a rotor including a magnet and located within the blood flow conduit; a magnetic core located in the internal volume and extending circumferentially around the blood flow conduit and the rotor, which magnetic core terminates proximate to the wall; a controller located in the internal volume; and a thermal conductor contacting and preferentially thermally connecting the controller and the magnetic core, wherein the thermal conductor is electrically non-conductive.

Abstract: A transmit resonator for use in a wireless power transfer system is provided. The transmit resonator includes a core defining an annular groove, a coil element disposed within the annular groove, and a housing surrounding the core and the coil element. The housing includes a casing. and a metal plate, wherein the metal plate is positioned on a side of the transmit resonator that is opposite a receive resonator during operation of the wireless power transfer system, and wherein the metal plate facilitates reducing far-field electromagnetic emissions and improving cooling of the wireless power transfer system.
