Abstract: A valve comprises a valve body having a fluid inlet and fluid outlet, a valve seat located in the valve body between the fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a valve member movable towards and away from the valve seat for controlling the flow of fluid from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet, and a PTC heater in thermal contact with the valve seat for heating the valve seat. The heater is integrated in the valve in a manner where the valve seat is used as an electrical conductor to facilitate operation and assembly of the valve, and a unique valve construction is provided for enabling self-draining to avoid accumulation of water or other liquid in the valve that might negatively impact performance of the valve.

Abstract: A method for operating a hearing prosthesis is provided. A plurality of settings are provided, each setting providing a different operating functionality for the hearing prosthesis suitable for different situations. A signal analysis is executed on input signals to the hearing prosthesis. The signal analysis monitors characteristics of a current situation to detect any change and, in the case of detecting change, classifies the current situation into one of a plurality of predefined states. The suitability of the settings is compared with the determined state. One or more optimal choice(s) of setting(s) is identified for the current situation. The one or more optimal choice(s) of setting(s) is presented to a user . The user is then allowed to make a selection from the presented choice(s) of setting(s). If a selection is received from the user, the selected setting is executed . A hearing prosthesis is also provided.

Abstract: A processing method and apparatus for reducing noise in an auditory prosthesis, for example a hearing aid or cochlear implant, are disclosed. The noise floor of the input sound signal is estimated, and the base output level of the output signal is moved in response, in a preferred form to substantially the estimated noise floor level, without modifying the maximum output level. This has the effect of maximising the dynamic range of the user in response to the target sound signal.

Abstract: A disassembly aid for a sealed assembly is disclosed. The sealed assembly defining a fluid-containing cavity includes a first component cooperating with a second component to define the fluid containing cavity, the first and second components having cooperating sealing surfaces.
