Abstract: To provide a display apparatus with a novel structure. A display portion including a first subpixel, a second subpixel, a first gate line supplied with a first selection signal to scan the first subpixel, and a second gate line supplied with a second selection signal to scan the second subpixel; and a driver control circuit including a gate line driver circuit, a switching portion that allots the first selection signal or the second selection signal output from the gate line driver circuit to the first gate line or the second gate line to be output, and a timing control circuit that controls the switching portion are included. The timing control circuit allows the gate line driver circuit to output the first selection signal of a first frame frequency and the second selection signal having a selection period longer than the first selection signal in a first operation mode, and to output the first selection signal and the second selection signal with a second frame frequency lower than the first frame frequency in a second operation mode.

Abstract: A display device with favorable display quality is provided. A display portion where a plurality of pixels is arranged in a matrix is divided into Region A and Region B, i.e., regions on the upstream side and the downstream side of a scanning direction. A signal line for supplying an image signal is provided in each of Region A and Region B. Region A and Region B adjoin each other such that a boundary line showing the boundary between the regions is bent. Bending the boundary line suppresses formation of a stripe in a boundary portion. For example, in a given column, the total number of pixels electrically connected to a signal line in Region A is made different from the total number of pixels electrically connected to a signal line in Region B.

Abstract: An imaging device having a motion detecting function and an image processing function is provided. The imaging device can detect a difference between a reference frame image and a comparative frame image, and can switch from a motion detecting mode to a normal image capturing mode when a significant difference is detected. A low-frame-rate operation in the motion detecting mode can reduce power consumption. Moreover, the imaging device has an image recognition function in combination with the motion detecting function, so that switching from the motion detecting mode to the normal image capturing mode can be performed when a particular image is recognized.

Abstract: A method for reducing power consumption of a source driver included in a display device and suppressing heat generation is provided. In a display device in which each pixel is supplied with a data signal of image data through a source line, a source driver is included, each source line is electrically connected to the source driver, and the source driver has a function of driving the source lines. In the case where the amount of change of the data signal of the image data is small, in other words, in the case where power for charging and discharging the source line can be small, the source driver reduces the apparent size of the transistor at the output stage, and power consumption can be reduced. Furthermore, the amount of heat generation can be reduced.
