Provided is a backlight device in which each of a plurality of patterns separated at a uniform interval is intermittently formed and a 3D display apparatus having the same. The backlight device includes light sources configured to generate light and a light guide plate configured to change a path of the light and configured to emit the light, wherein the light guide plate includes an incident surface upon which the light is incident, an exit surface configured to emit the incident light, a reflective surface provided opposite to the exit surface, and a plurality of main patterns separated at a uniform interval, the plurality of main patterns provided intermittently on the reflective surface and configured to scatter the incident light.

A three-dimensional display apparatus is provided having a light guide module which guides to a display panel from a backlight. The three-dimensional display apparatus includes a first light guide, a second light guide, and an emission pattern which emits light toward the display panel. Viewing distances between a viewer's eyes and the display panel are determined by a thickness of the second light guide regardless of a thickness of the first light guide.

A display apparatus is disclosed, the display apparatus including: a signal receiver configured to receive a first image signal and a second image signal; a signal processor configured to process the received first and second image signals; and a display panel configured to display a first image based on the processed first image signal and a second image based on the processed second image signal, the display panel including: a liquid crystal layer driven to selectively transmit light based on the first image signal and the second image signal; a first backlight unit arranged at a first side of the liquid crystal layer, and configured to provide light entering the first side of the liquid crystal layer and exiting a first area on a second side opposite the first side of the liquid crystal layer to display the first image signal; and a second backlight unit arranged at the second side of the liquid crystal layer, and configured to provide light entering the second side of the liquid crystal layer and exiting a second area on the first side of the liquid crystal layer to display the second image signal, the second area of the first side and the first area of the second side not overlapping each other in a direction perpendicular to the first side and the second side.Thus, one liquid crystal display and two backlight units are made up of at least a double-sided viewable display apparatus, thereby reducing volume and costs while providing a double-sided viewable function.
