Abstract:
An apparatus for connecting to a wireless communication system is provided. The apparatus includes a controller configured to, when it is determined to restrict a connection to a base station, set base stations which are detected during a first reference time as connection candidate base stations, set any base station which fails to be detected during a second reference time as one or more base stations to be excluded from connection, and select at least one base station except for the one or more base stations to be excluded from connection from among the connection candidate base stations, and a transmitter configured to transmit a connection request signal to the selected base station.
Abstract:
A method for setting up/releasing by a user equipment (UE) a radio resource control (RRC) connection with an evolved node B (eNB) in a communication system is provided. The method includes detecting that traffic occurs. The method also includes that after detecting that the traffic occurs, determining a traffic type of the traffic The method further includes adaptively adjusting a timing point at which the UE releases a RRC connection between the eNB and the UE based on the traffic type.

Abstract:
A method and mobile station in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes determining whether there is a packet that is at least one of transmitted and received for each of time intervals, determining a traffic status of at least one of transmission and reception based on a result of the determining of whether there is the packet that is the at least one of transmitted and received for each of the time intervals, and determining the internet connection status based on the determined traffic status of the at least on transmission and reception.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided for providing an internet service by a server in a communication system. A user interface for selecting whether to provide a search service based on location information of a subscriber station, is provided to the subscriber station. If the subscriber station selects to be provided the search service based on the location information, the location information of the subscriber station is acquired using a location information server or a cell identifier (ID) according to an existence of the location information server in the communication system. Data is sought based on the location information. The data is provided to the subscriber station.
Abstract:
A method of providing contents in a communication system by a proxy server includes selecting one of a first content and a second content based on a first channel bandwidth usable by a terminal and a second channel bandwidth usable by a base station; and providing the selected content to the terminal, wherein the first content requires a wider channel bandwidth than a channel bandwidth of the second content.

Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. Provided is a method and apparatus for supporting interworking between devices by using short-range communication. A server for supporting interworking between devices using short-range communication includes an interface unit configured to receive purchasing information regarding a first device and device information regarding a second device that is a target device for interworking with the first device and a controller configured to generate interworking information regarding the first device based on the device information received from the interface unit and to transmit the interworking information to the second device.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for managing a Domain Name System (DNS) server address in a communication system are provided. In the method for operating a terminal, an attempt to change an address of a DNS server to a first address is detected. Whether the first address is included in an address list defined in advance is determined. When the first address is not included in the address list defined in advance, the change to the first address is stopped.
Abstract:
A method of operating an electronic device may include: detecting a first input with respect to a first domain name. The method may also include detecting a second input with respect to a second domain name within a designated interval after the first input is detected. The method may further include storing the second domain name as a domain name associated with the first domain name in a storage unit included in the electronic device. The method may additionally include transmitting a message for requesting information on an address corresponding to the first domain name and a message for requesting information on an address corresponding to the second domain name to a domain name system (DNS) server in response to detection of a third input with respect to the first domain name.
