    Abstract: The present invention relates to an image processing device and method enabling deterioration in encoding efficiency to be suppressed.
    A control information adding unit 184 embeds one picture worth of control information held in a control information holding unit 183 into a slice header of a predetermined slice, in encoded data held in an encoded data holding unit 182. For example, the control information adding unit 184 embeds one picture worth of control information in the slice header of the first-transmitted slice in the frame to be processed in the encoded data. The control information adding unit 184 outputs encoded data to which the control information has been added, in a predetermined order. The present invention can be applied to, for example, an image processing device.

    Abstract: A lossless decoding unit 52 takes quantization parameters of decoded blocks spatially or temporally adjacent to a block to be decoded, as selection candidates, and extracts, from stream information, difference information indicating difference as to a prediction quantization parameter selected from the selection candidates. A quantization parameter calculating unit 59 calculates, from the prediction quantization parameter and the difference information, a quantization parameter of the block to be decoded. Thus, decoding of the image can be performed correctly by calculating a quantization parameter equal to a quantization parameter used at the time of image encoding.

    Abstract: There is provided an encoding device, encoding method, decoding device, and decoding method that make it possible to improve the coding efficiency. The encoding device and the decoding device each perform classification of classifying a pixel of interest of a decoding in-progress image into any of a plurality of classes by using an inclination feature amount, and perform a filter arithmetic operation with the decoding in-progress image by using a tap coefficient of a class of the pixel of interest among tap coefficients of the respective classes. The inclination feature amount indicates a tangent direction of a contour line of pixel values of the pixel of interest. The decoding in-progress image is obtained by adding a residual of predictive coding and a predicted image together. The tap coefficients of the respective classes are each obtained through learning for minimizing an error by using the decoding in-progress image and an original image. The original image corresponds to the decoding in-progress image. The present technology is applicable in a case where an image is encoded or decoded.
