Abstract: A cover assembly for an electronic device includes a glass layer having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, a first having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, and an optically clear polymer film disposed on the optically clear adhesive on a side opposite the glass layer, the polymer film comprising a thermoplastic polymer. The cover assembly transmits greater than 85% of visible light as determined according to ASTM D1003-00. A method of manufacturing the cover assembly is also described. The cover assembly can be useful for use with an electronic device.

Abstract: A thermoplastic composition including a resin phase and 10% to 55%, especially 25% to 45% of glass fibers by weight of the composition is disclosed. The resin phase includes a polysiloxane block copolymer including polydimethylsiloxane blocks and polycarbonate blocks derived from bisphenol A. The resin phase further includes a polycarbonate and has between 2.0 wt % and 10 wt % by weight of siloxane. The thermoplastic composition has (i) a notched Izod impact strength of at least 150 Joules per meter measured at 23° C. according to ASTM D256, (ii) a tensile strength greater than 95 MPa as determined by ASTM D638, (iii) a tensile modulus greater than 10,900 MPa as determined by ASTM D638 and (iv) an unnotched Izod impact strength greater than 775 Joules per meter measured at 23° C. according to ASTM D256.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are blended thermoplastic compositions comprising at least one polycarbonate component, at least one polybutylene component, at least one polyester ether elastomer component, at least one poly(ethylene-co-ethylacrylate) component, at least one ethylene/alkyl acrylate/glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer component, and at least one glass fiber component. The thermal blended polycarbonate compositions can optionally further comprise a transesterification quenching agent and/or epoxy hydrostabilizer agent. The resulting compositions can be used in the manufacture of articles requiring materials that have high impact strength yet have very high stiffness, while retaining desired dielectric properties and are colorable from white to black.

Abstract: A polymer composition includes: about 20 wt % to about 80 wt % of a polycarbonate polymer; about 1 wt % to about 20 wt % of a polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer; about 15 wt % to about 35 wt % of a reinforcing filler having a tensile modulus of at least about 150 GPa; and about 4 wt % to about 20 wt % of a flame retardant comprising phosphorous. The polymer composition demonstrates a flexural modulus in an amount equal to or greater than about 10 GPa. Methods of forming a polymer composition and blended thermoplastic compositions are also described.
