In the disclosure document DE-OS No. 31 49 700 the theory is put forward that the effective point of attachment of a trailer opposite the towing vehicle can be transferred in the direction of the center of gravity of the towing vehicle. The invention concerns itself with the actual possibility of the transfer while taking structural conditions into consideration. In this respect, the invention shows that at least the joints located at the trailer are to be arranged at a lower level than the ball head of a normal trailer coupling. The distance in height should be considerable, for instance approximately 75 mm. The front joints are located at a cross member, said joints being pivoted around a longitudinal axis in a coupling housing which is fixed rigidly at the ball head of the trailer coupling and thus is immovable.

In normal tractor-trailer combinations consisting of a tractor vehicle and a trailer vehicle such as a motor caravan, the zig-zag and side-to-side movements of the trailer vehicle adversely affect the handling behavior of the tractor-trailer combination. This effect is substantially reduced by displacing the effective coupling point towards the center of gravity of the tractor vehicle without alterning the distance of the trailer vehicle from the tractor vehicle. However, since this position of the effective coupling point is not accessible for structural reasons, the hitherto customary ball-headed coupling part located at the rear of the tractor vehicle is kinematically bridged by connecting two joints associated with the tractor vehicle to two joints associated with the trailer vehicle via connecting bars to form a four-joint arrangement such that the straight lines running in the longitudinal direction intersect at the desired effective coupling point.

An assembly for movably supporting a wheel on a frame of a house trailer has a torsion bar extending horizontally perpendicular to the normal horizontal transport direction of the trailer, with the inner bar end being anchored to the trailer frame and the outer bar end being limitedly elastically pivotal about the bar axis relative to the inner bar end. An arm extends generally perpendicular to the bar axis and generally in the transport direction, and has an inner arm end fixed to the outer bar end and an outer arm end. This arm is formed of a piece of flexible steel plate lying in a vertical plane parallel to the normal transport direction so as to be substantially inflexible angularly of the bar axis between the arm ends and relatively flexible parallel to the bar axis between the arm ends. A substantially rigid and inflexible wheel-support strut has an outer strut end connected to the outer arm end and an inner strut end mounted by means of a bearing on the frame for pivoting of the strut about a strut axis skew to the bar axis and passing through the inner strut end. The outer strut and outer arm ends carry a wheel that is rotatable about a wheel axis substantially parallel to the bar axis. As the strut pivots about the strut axis the bar will twist about the bar axis and the arm will deform parallel to the bar and wheel axes between the outer strut and bar ends.

A workbench has a pair of rigid wooden work plates bridging and fixed to a pair of transverse support elements from which extend legs constituting a foldable stand. The work plates are each formed with a plurality of throughgoing bores into which pegs of a clamp and holding blocks may fit, these pegs being smaller than the bores so that the blocks and clamp tip when acted upon parallel to the work surface. The faces of the blocks and clamp are inclined to be perpendicular to the work surface when the pegs are thus tipped. The legs of the stand can fold parallel to each other and flat against the work table when the workbench is not in use.
