摘要:
A water pressure control system in which the pressurizing pump is turned on only in response to low pressure but is turned off only in response to low water flow rates. Water flow is detected with a magnetic switch displaced by water movement. After the pump is turned on, it can not be turned off for ten seconds, to smooth operation. When the system is first activated, the pump is turned on for sixty seconds, without regard to the other control functions, to guarantee priming of the pump.

A pump housing has a plurality of chambers formed therein, and a shaft journaled within, the shaft having impellers keyed thereto. Each chamber has one of the impellers disposed therein. One of the impellers is the primary liquid-working element, and has rigid vanes. The vanes are generously spaced apart from the enclosing chamber walls. A second impeller has flexible vanes, and serves as a priming element; it has an intimate fit in its chamber and cooperates with an outlet flapper valve to create a negative pressure in the liquid inlet. Consequently, the pump can self-prime even when absolutely dry.

A clean-in-place pump is disclosed in which the hub of the impeller extends into a pocket in which particles from the fluid being pumped may become entrapped. Axial slots in the drive shaft of the impeller create turbulence within the pocket to dislodge the particles. Back vanes on the impeller and passages through the impeller vane mounting disc cooperate to cause fluid to circulate through the pocket to flush out the particles.
