The ink composition comprises a carrier, a colorant, and a predetermined concentration of a distinct label material, the weight ratio of the label material to the colorant being less than 1. The label material may be easily detected by a sensor associated with the ink delivery system.

A concentrated fine solid particle dispersion useful for forming a substantially photographically transparent magnetic recording layer is disclosed, comprising an organic solvent medium containing a dispersing agent and dispersed magnetic particles, wherein the magnetic particles are present at a concentration of at least 25% by weight and the organic solvent medium is comprised primarily of organic solvent selected from dimethyl succinate, dimethyl glutarate and dimethyl adipate. This invention provides a stable concentrated dispersion of magnetic particles useful for preparing substantially photographically transparent magnetic recording layers. A film-forming binder solution can be added to dilute the concentrated dispersion, which then can be applied to a support to form a transparent magnetic layer for a magnetic recording element. This invention also provides a photographic element which contains a magnetic recording layer which has excellent magnetic characteristics and which is substantially photographically transparent by virtue of its low granularity and optical density.

A method for monitoring the amount of unexposed photographic film remaining in a motion camera film magazine that includes the steps of: providing an unexposed motion picture film containing a support having at least one light sensitive image recording layer and a transparent magnetic recording layer; recording film length data on the transparent magnetic recording layer of the unexposed motion picture film; loading the unexposed motion picture film in a motion picture film magazine; and reading the film length data from the transparent magnetic recording layer as it is removed from the film supply magazine to provide an indication of the amount of unexposed film remaining in the motion picture film magazine. The amount of unexposed film remaining may be displayed in a read-out device associated with the film magazine or camera.

The composition is preferably disposed on a substrate backcoated with a composition containing from about 15 to about 25% of carbon black, from about 15 to about 25% of an inorganic filler, from about 0.5 to about 2% of an abrasive, from about 20 to about 30% of a vinyl copolymeric binder, from about 15 to about 25% of a polyurethane binder, from about 7.5 to about 17.5% of an NCO terminated crosslinking agent, from about 0.9 to about 2% of a lubricant, and from about 0.06 to about 0.6% of a coating aid. Master media for anhysteretic recording containing the coating composition of the invention and an anhysteretic duplicating system are also provided as are processes for preparing the coating compositions and master media and for anhysteretic duplication.
