    摘要: A method of making a transparent magnetic recording layer which comprises forming a concentrated aqueous magnetic dispersion (A) of from 10 to 50 percent by weight ferromagnetic particles having a specific surface area of at least 30 m.sup.2 /gm and from 0.5 to 20 percent by weight of a dispersing agent; adding the concentrated aqueous magnetic dispersion (A) to a viscosity increasing hydrophilic polymer in water (B) such that the concentration of the hydrophilic cobinder is from 0.5 to 3 percent by weight based on the total weight of (A) and (B); diluting the resulting dispersion (A) plus (B) with water to give a dispersion (C) having a concentration of from 0.5 to 5 percent by weight of ferromagnetic particles; preparing a final dispersion by adding to the dispersion (C) from 20 to 200 parts per 100 parts of dispersion (C) of an aqueous deionized gelatin solution having a pH value from 7 to 10 and containing from 2 to 15 percent by weight of gelatin and coating the final dispersion onto a substrate to give a dry coverage of from 700 mg/m.sup.2 to 3000 mg/m.sup.2 of solids.

    摘要: An ink jet printing ink composition is disclosed for use with an ink jet printing apparatus comprising a printhead, an ink delivery system adapted to provide the ink to the printhead, and a sensor associated with the ink delivery system adapted to produce a signal which is characteristic of the concentration of a label material in a printing ink, where said signal is used to indicate the appropriateness of using a particular printing ink. The ink composition comprises a carrier, a colorant, and a predetermined concentration of a distinct label material, the weight ratio of the label material to the colorant being less than 1. The label material may be easily detected by a sensor associated with the ink delivery system.

    摘要: A concentrated fine solid particle dispersion useful for forming a substantially photographically transparent magnetic recording layer is disclosed, comprising an organic solvent medium containing a dispersing agent and dispersed magnetic particles, wherein the magnetic particles are present at a concentration of at least 25% by weight and the organic solvent medium is comprised primarily of organic solvent selected from dimethyl succinate, dimethyl glutarate and dimethyl adipate. This invention provides a stable concentrated dispersion of magnetic particles useful for preparing substantially photographically transparent magnetic recording layers. A film-forming binder solution can be added to dilute the concentrated dispersion, which then can be applied to a support to form a transparent magnetic layer for a magnetic recording element. This invention also provides a photographic element which contains a magnetic recording layer which has excellent magnetic characteristics and which is substantially photographically transparent by virtue of its low granularity and optical density.

The amount of unexposed film remaining may be displayed in a read-out device associated with the film magazine or camera.

    摘要: A coating composition is provided for master media for anhysteretic transfer of magnetically recorded information to a copy medium which comprises from about 50 to about 69% of a magnetic pigment, from about 2.95 to about 6.90% of an abrasive powder, from 0 to about 5.4% of a colloidal inorganic powder, from about 2.9 to about 4.5% of a wetting agent, from about 0.7 to about 3.1% of a lubricant, from about 14.1 to about 33.6% of a binder, at least 85% of which is a polyurethane and from 0.05 to about 15% of which is a polyisocyanate crosslinking agent. The composition is preferably disposed on a substrate backcoated with a composition containing from about 15 to about 25% of carbon black, from about 15 to about 25% of an inorganic filler, from about 0.5 to about 2% of an abrasive, from about 20 to about 30% of a vinyl copolymeric binder, from about 15 to about 25% of a polyurethane binder, from about 7.5 to about 17.5% of an NCO terminated crosslinking agent, from about 0.9 to about 2% of a lubricant, and from about 0.06 to about 0.6% of a coating aid. Master media for anhysteretic recording containing the coating composition of the invention and an anhysteretic duplicating system are also provided as are processes for preparing the coating compositions and master media and for anhysteretic duplication.
