    Abstract: An eddy current flaw detector, and method of operation thereof, for detecting defects in metallic workpieces. The flaw detector includes an oscillator circuit having an operational amplifier, a negative feedback circuit coupled between the output terminal and an inverting input terminal of the amplifier, and a positive feedback circuit coupled between the output terminal and a noninverting input terminal of the amplifier. Also, a search probe is electrically coupled to the non-inverting input terminal of the operational amplifier to form a portion of the positive feedback circuit thereby providing a flaw detector with improved operational stability.
