    Abstract: Techniques and devices for wireless communication are described. A communication device may identify a set of beam level selection parameters. The set of beam level selection parameters may include traffic information, channel information, application information, or any combination thereof. The communication device may select, based on the identified set of beam level selection parameters, a beam level, from a set of beam levels, different from a baseline beam level associated with the wireless communication. The selected beam level may be associated with a number of antenna elements different from a number of antenna elements associated with the baseline beam level. The communication device may perform the wireless communication based on the selected beam level.

    Abstract: Aspects relate to a calibration of an antenna array module of a wireless communication device in open space. The antenna array module may be used as a proximity sensor to detect an object's proximity relative to the antenna array module. Aspects include displaying an open space calibration instruction on a display of the wireless communication device, transmitting a proximity test signal from the antenna array module, measuring a value of a first signal received at the antenna array module in response to transmitting the proximity test signal, and storing the value of the first signal as an open space calibration value of the antenna array module. The first signal may be measured at cross-polarized antennas of the antenna array module. The value of the first signal may be representative of perturbations of the proximity test signal at the cross-polarized antennas.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a simplified solution for proximity detection of an object in a wireless communication that does not require complex hardware to maintain mutual coupling reference signal. Specifically, in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure, the received signal that may include the mutual coupling signal and target signal may be multiplied by itself to extract the delay information associated with the target signal. The techniques outlined here may provide a greater robustness to variations of mutual coupling induced by phone covers, for example, being added by the user.
