Abstract:
In a multi-subscription wireless communication device with a shared radio frequency (RF) resource, when there is an active data communication associated with the first SIM, a tune-away may be performed to support a subscription on a second SIM. After tuning to the second network to receive data during an assigned time slot in a frame capable of carrying a common control channel the wireless communication device may determine whether a message granting or denying the requested channel access can be recovered or excluded, and skip receiving remaining frames for the message and stop tune-aways when a message granting the requested channel access can be excluded. In some embodiments determining whether the message can be excluded may include determining whether a signal-to-noise ratio for the received data burst is greater than 10 dB, and if so, determining whether the decoded data can be identified as part of a paging message.
Abstract:
Embodiments described herein relate to extending an awake period (on duration) or an inactivity timer duration in a Connected Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) mode for a first subscription based on activities of a second subscription. A method according to some embodiments includes determining that the awake period of the CDRX cycle associated with the first subscription collides with the activities of the second subscription, and extending the awake period by an extended awake period in response to determining that the awake period collides with the activities of the second subscription. In addition, a method according to some embodiments includes determining that the inactivity timer duration collides with the activities of the second subscription, and extending the inactivity timer duration for an extended inactivity timer duration in response to determining that the inactivity timer duration collides with the activities of the second subscription.
Abstract:
A method for performing cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes monitoring one or more neighbor cells of a same radio access technology as a serving cell while camped on the serving cell. The method also includes determining that reselection criteria is met for a target cell. The method further includes starting a reselection timer for the target cell. The method additionally includes determining whether to perform reselection to the target cell based on a target cell signal to noise ratio (SNR) and a serving cell SNR.
Abstract:
A multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) wireless communication device with a first SIM and a second SIM associated with a shared radio frequency (RF) resource may determine that timing collisions are predicted between an active period of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle associated with the first SIM and an active period of a DRX cycle associated with the second SIM. In response, the wireless communication device may determine whether the first SIM is registered with an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) to use Voice-over-wireless local area network (VoWLAN) service over a wireless local area network (WLAN). If the first SIM is registered with the IMS to use VoWLAN service over the WLAN, the wireless communication device may shift the conflicting DRX cycle associated with the first SIM by a time margin, and receive paging messages for mobile terminating calls on the modem stack associated with the first SIM over the WLAN.
Abstract:
Aspects of apparatus and methods for wireless communication include starting to perform a manual public land mobile network (PLMN) search by a user equipment (UE); while the manual PLMN search is ongoing, scanning one or more frequency bands to determine an available cell; and determining whether to camp on the available cell before the manual PLMN search is completed by the UE. In some aspects, the determining of whether to camp on the available cell includes decoding a system information block (SIB) or system information (SI) related to a cell suitability criterion of the available cell; determining whether the available cell is suitable based on the SIB or the SI; when the available cell is suitable, suspending the manual PLMN search and decoding other related SIBs or SIs of the available cell; and when the available cell is not suitable, resuming the manual PLMN search.
Abstract:
A user equipment (UE) includes: a first subscriber identity module (SIM) associated with a first service provider subscription and a second SIM associated with a second service provider subscription; the US is configured to operate the first service provider subscription in an active-mode and operating the second service provider subscription in an idle mode; and the UE is further configured to signal a changing quantity of multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) layers available to the first service provider subscription in response to radio frequency (RF) resource sharing with the second service provider subscription for a paging operation of the second service provider subscription.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for providing notifications in a communication network of a plurality of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In an aspect, a supervisor device in the communication network detects a notification directed to a wireless mobile device in the communication network and sends at least one instruction to at least a first IoT device of the plurality of IoT devices to reduce an operating volume or suspend operation of the first IoT device. The first IoT device receives the at least one instruction from the supervisor device and reduces the operating volume of the IoT device or suspends the operation of the IoT device in response to the at least one instruction.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) are described. A UE may be operating in a downlink carrier (DL) carrier aggregation (CA) mode, which may include a first component carrier and a second carrier component of a set of component carriers. The UE may determine the second component carrier satisfies throughput requirements associated with an uplink (UL) data transmission. The UE may determine, a transmission current consumption relationship between the first component carrier and the second component carrier. The UE may determine, based on the transmission current consumption relationship, whether to switch the anchor carrier from the first component carrier to the second component carrier. When the UE determined to switch the anchor carrier, the UE may modify a measurement report to satisfy a condition for switching the anchor carrier from the first component carrier to the second component carrier.
