Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a partially network-controlled repeater. A method for wireless communications by a repeater includes receiving downlink control information (DCI) from a network entity via a backhaul link, the DCI indicating a time period for beam management. The method includes performing a beam management procedure with a user equipment (UE) during the time period. The method includes determining a beam for communicating with the UE based on the beam management procedure. The method includes communicating with the UE using the beam.

An example method, performed at a wireless node, generally includes measuring reference signals (RSs), wherein each of the RSs is associated with a cell and a beam, generating, based on the measuring, a report that indicates RS measurements associated with different cells, wherein the report indicates: one or more absolute values of one or more of the RS measurements and one or more differential values for other RS measurements, wherein each of the differential values represents a difference in value of one of the other RS measurements relative to one of the one or more absolute values, and outputting the report for transmission.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to dynamic antenna array reconfiguration and signaling in millimeter wave bands. A user equipment (UE) may detect an antenna array change condition. The UE may transmit a request for beam training for an antenna array configuration in response to the detecting. The request for beam training may include a requested antenna array configuration for the UE and an indication of beam weights to use with the requested antenna array configuration. A base station may determine whether to grant or deny the requested antenna array configuration for the UE. The UE may receive, from the base station, an indication of an antenna array configuration for the UE. The base station may transmit the number of reference signals as a set of contiguous channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS). The UE may train the reconfigured active antenna array configuration based on the reference signals.
