Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for planning an endoscopic tissue acquisition procedure for acquiring tissue from an anatomical target are disclosed. An endoscopic system comprises a steerable elongate instrument and a processor. The steerable elongate instrument can be positioned and navigated in a patient anatomy and acquire tissue from an anatomical target via a biopsy tool associated with the steerable elongate instrument. The processor can receive an image of the anatomical target, apply the received image to a trained machine-learning (ML) model to determine a tissue acquisition plan that includes a recommended biopsy tool and operational parameters for navigating the steerable elongate instrument or maneuvering the recommended biopsy tool. The tissue acquisition plan can be presented to a user, or used to facilitate a robot-assisted tissue acquisition procedure.

Abstract: An endoscopic system includes a steerable elongate instrument configured to be robotically positioned and navigated in a target anatomy of a patient via an actuator; and a controller configured to: receive patient information including an image of the target anatomy; apply the target anatomy image to a trained machine-learning (ML) model to recognize the target anatomy and to estimate one or more cannulation or navigation parameters for maneuvering the steerable elongate instrument; and provide a control signal to the actuator to robotically facilitate operation of the steerable elongate instrument in the target anatomy in accordance with the estimated one or more cannulation or navigation parameters.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for planning endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided tissue acquisition (EUS-TA) from an anatomical target are disclosed. An endoscopy system comprises a steerable elongate instrument including an EUS probe to produce ultrasound scans of the anatomical target, and a tissue acquisition device to sample tissue. A processor receives image of the anatomical target including one or more EUS images converted from the ultrasound scans, apply the images to a trained machine-learning model to generate an EUS-TA plan. The EUS-TA plan may include a recommended tissue acquisition device, and recommended values of operational parameters for manipulating the tissue acquisition device, navigating the steerable elongate instrument, or positioning the EUS probe. The EUS-TA plan can be presented to a user, or used to facilitate a robot-assisted tissue acquisition procedure.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for providing a computer-assisted endoscopic procedure guidance are disclosed. A procedure planning system can generate an endoscope navigation plan for a patient scheduled for an endoscopic procedure performed by an operating physician. The system comprises a processor that can access an endoscopic procedure database, identify therefrom physicians substantially matching the experience level of the operating physician, and retrieve reference procedure data of the past procedures performed by the matching physicians. The reference procedure data can be further selected from past procedures performed on patients with similar medical information to the scheduled patient. The processor can generate an endoscope navigation plan for the scheduled patient using reference procedure data. The endoscope navigation plan can be displayed along with the live endoscopic image to guide the operating physician in performing the procedure.
