摘要:
A burner is provided for heating a stream of combustion supporting gas, like air. The burner has a main feed pipe extending across the stream of combustion supporting gas. The main feed pipe has an inlet for receiving a fuel gas from a fuel gas source, and at least one outlet for producing a main jet of fuel gas substantially in the direction of the stream. The burner also has two parallel auxiliary feed pipes extending across the stream of combustion supporting gas, at a predetermined distance downstream from the main pipe and on each side of the main jet. Each of the auxiliary feed pipes has an inlet for receiving fuel gas from the fuel gas source, and at least one outlet for producing an auxiliary jet of fuel gas in the direction of the stream. The burner further has two bluff-body devices in front of the outlets of both the auxiliary feed pipes respectively. Each of the bluff-body devices has a hole aligned with each corresponding outlet in order to produce a stable pilot flame adjacent to the main jet of fuel gas for ignition thereof. This burner is useful since it allows for a better mixing of the fuel gas with the stream of combustion supporting gas. Such in turn allows for a better combustion of the fuel gas and, hence, a reduction of pollutant emissions.

An ultra-violet lamp and reflector/shield assembly designed to be mounted in a commercial HVAC, and to other types of A/C units is described herein. The reflector/shield includes a reflective inner surface creating an illumination pattern and an outer surface shielding the UV lamp from the air flow. An orienting and securing assembly for a UV lamp is also described herein.

A gas burner is described having a cylindrical combustion chamber having at least two spaced apart counter-rotation stationary tangential air injectors and at least three sets of radial injection holes in between for admitting air under pressure in the combustion chamber to cause adjacent counter-rotation air turbulence regions in said combustion chamber. The combustion chamber has a closed end and an open end with a gas injector tube extending in the chamber from the closed end and disposed centrally therein. The injector tube has combustion gas injection ports at least upstream and downstream of the at least two air injectors to create a combustion mixture which is initially fuel-lean to generate a flame having a lower temperature and producing less nitrogen oxide than with conventional gas burners of this type. An air chamber is provided about at least a portion of the combustion chamber and communicates with the tangential air injectors.

The disclosure is directed toward a method of providing heat to a heat exchanger via a burner. The burner includes a burner assembly and a large transparent door for viewing various components of the burner assembly and/or an integral pilot system. The burner can also include a windbox to manipulate air used by the burner assembly and/or an air manipulation device to ensure a proper air flow distribution in the burner assembly. The burner can also include a fan and a housing having holes disposed therein to permit fuel to enter various portions of the burner assembly.

A controller for an ultraviolet (UV) purification system having UV lamps includes a sensor in communication with a given UV lamp as well as a processor in communication the sensor. The sensor provides the UV light intensity rate of the UV lamp (sensed rate) and transmits this information to the processor which compares the sensed rate with a memory stored desired UV light intensity rate (desired rate). An indicator in communication with the processor indicates when the UV lamp is producing a UV light intensity below the desired rate. Current is provided to the UV lamp by a ballast. The processor includes a memory stored predetermined UV light intensity rate (predetermined rate) that is greater than the desired rate. When the sensed rate is lesser than the predetermined rate, the current provided by the ballast is increased such that the UV lamp produces a UV light intensity at least equal to the predetermined rate.

A counterflow fuel injection nozzle for injecting fuel is disclosed. The nozzle includes a nozzle wall having an interior surface that defines a nozzle interior, the interior for receiving a fuel therein. The nozzle further has a fuel passageway formed in the nozzle wall for distributing the fuel from the interior to a location exterior of the nozzle, the fuel distributed to the exterior location in a fuel flow injection direction. An airstream is provided in a prevailing air flow direction in the location exterior of the nozzle. At least one vector component of the fuel flow injection direction opposes at least one vector component of the prevailing air flow direction. In this manner, by distributing fuel into an air flow at a counterflow angle, improved control of mixing of the fuel in the air is achieved. The counterflow nozzle may be included as part of a new burner or as a retrofit to existing burners in order to incorporate counterflow mixing. Advantageously, burner turndown ratios and stability are enhanced through the use of the counterflow fuel injection nozzles with burners that use FGR (i.e., have lower O2 in combustion air supplied to the burner).
