    Abstract: A damper is provided for a rear view mirror with motorized actuation. A damper is provided between the mirror and its frame assembly for the purpose of shock absorption or vibration reduction. Each damper comprises a bracket and a boss. A polymer contact material such as an O-ring 24 is mounted onto the free end of the bracket and contacts the boss. The frictional and elastic properties etc. of the contact material determine the damping and frictional characteristics of the movement of the mirror with respect to the boss.

    Abstract: A vehicle mirror assembly has a mirror support and a mirror plate fitted on said support and a rear cover enclosing the sides and back of the mirror support and the attached plate. The rear cover is attachable to the mirror support and is able to be securely fastened to the mirror support by a screw threaded fastener accessed from the front of the mirror assembly without removal of the mirror plate. This solves the problem of maintaining the aerodynamic surface of the rear cover and yet having it securely fastened without the need to remove the mirror plate.

    Abstract: A wheel nut assembly for fixing a wheel to a vehicle hub which includes a wheel nut with an internal thread; a wheel stud having an external thread to co-operate with the internal thread of said wheel nut and having an end portion adapted to project beyond the wheel nut which end portion includes axial grooves o ribs on its external surface; a retaining cap with internal grooves or ribs complementary to the external ribs or grooves on said wheel stud adapted to fit over said wheel stud and said wheel nut; and means to secure the retaining cap to said wheel nut. The retaining cap prevents rotation of the nut once it has been tightened In some embodiments an aesthetic cover is provided to improve the appearance of the wheel. This aesthetic cover may also be used to lock the retaining cap to the nu and provide an indication that the nut is securely fastened.

    Abstract: An external vehicle rear view mirror assembly has a mirror (12), a mirror plate (14), and a mirror retention plate (16). The mirror plate has an attachment arrangement which can releasably engage the mirror plate to the mirror retention plate. The attachment arrangement has a locking assembly for engaging the mirror retention plate so that the mirror plate, when in the engaged position, can assume a locked position with respect to the mirror retention plate. The locking assembly has locking pins (24, 26) which are movable between a locking position and an unlocking position. Each locking pin has a leading free end (28) and an opposite head end (30). The head end has pin locking surfaces (32, 33a, 33b) which are engageable with a respective plate locking surface (34) of the mirror plate by operation of a respective spring loaded clip-on mechanism (36). Each locking pin is in the locking position when the leading free ends engage the mirror retention plate and lockably retain the mirror plate in the locked position. Each locking pin is in the unlocking position when the leading free ends are disengaged from the mirror retention plate after releasing the spring loaded clip-on mechanism.

    Abstract: A wheel nut assembly for fixing a wheel to a vehicle hub which includes a wheel nut with an internal thread and an axial body extension on said nut including a first section with an internal set of axial grooves or ribs and a second section containing a second internal screw thread. There is also a wheel stud having an external thread to co-operate with the internal thread of said wheel nut and having an end portion adapted to project beyond the wheel nut which end portion includes axial grooves or ribs on its external surface. An axial retaining cap consists of an upper externally screw threaded first portion which is adapted to engage the second internal screw thread of said body extension of said nut and attached to said first portion a second cap portion having internal grooves or ribs complementary to the external ribs or grooves on said wheel stud adapted to fit over said wheel stud and having external ribs or grooves adapted to engage the internal set of axial grooves or ribs on the first section of said body extension of said wheel nut. The first portion of said retaining cap is able to be rotated so that it moves axially down the internal screw thread of the second section of said body extension of said wheel nut so that the second portion of said cap is pushed down the end of said wheel stud and is held between the external ribs and grooves of the end of said wheel stud and the internal ribs and grooves of the first section of said body extension of said wheel nut.

    Abstract: An anti loosening arrangement doer wheel nuts which uses wheel rim with a plurality of studs having external threads to receive fastening nuts, a wheel nut with an internal thread adapted to be secured to said studs a connector adapted to be attached to and connect adjacent nuts said connector including a mechanism to prevent rotation of the nuts. This arrangement does not require a custom stud. In some preferred mechanisms custom nuts may be needed but in other preferred embodiments conventional nuts may be used. The connector prevents rotation of the nuts and so inhibits loosening. The connector is easily seen and is an indication that the wheel nuts are unable to be loosened.
