Abstract: An effective technique for detecting several load conditions different in presence or absence and magnitude of load applied to a tool bit is provided in a hand-held tool. A hand-held tool 101 performs a predetermined operation while pressing a tool bit 119 mounted in a front end region of a tool body 103 against a workpiece. A plurality of detecting sensors 161 of different kinds detect several load conditions different in presence or absence and magnitude of load applied to the tool bit 119. The hand-held tool 101 includes at least one of an indicating device 171 which indicates the load conditions based on a result detected by the detecting sensors 161, and a driving control device 135 which controls driving of the tool bit 119 based on the detected result.

Abstract: It is an object of the invention to easily determine a currently-selected operation mode in a power tool which offers several operation modes. A representative electric hammer drill 101 embodying a power tool according to the invention has a controller 171 for at least controlling a driving motor 111. Abstract: An impact tool includes a vibration-proofing cushioning material connecting a tool body and a handle. The tool further includes a motor-driving manual operating member disposed on the handle, an operation mode switching member disposed on the tool body, and a movable member. When the switching member is switched to first mode in which the tool bit is continuously driven, the movable member moves the manual operating member from an off position and locks it in an on position. When the switching member is switched to second mode in which the tool bit is arbitrarily driven, the movable member releases the lock of the manual operating member. A vibration-proofing elastic member is disposed in the vibration transmitting path and prevents vibration caused in the tool body from being transmitted to the handle in the state in which the manual operating member is locked in the on position by the movable member.

Abstract: Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide an effective technique to improve ease of operation of the power impact tool. The representative power impact tool according to the present invention includes a tool body, a tool bit, a motor, first and second switches and a mode changing mechanism. The tool bit performs a striking movement. The motor is driven only when both of the switches are turned on. The first switch is urged from the on position side to the off position side and normally held in the off position. The second switch is turned between the on position and the off position and held in one of the on and off positions unless operated to be turned to the opposite position. The mode changing mechanism switches between hammer operation modes of the tool bit. According to the first hammer mode, the user is allowed to actuate the first switch while the second switch is locked in the on position. Further, according to the second hammer mode, the first switch is locked in the on position while the user is allowed to actuate the second switch. According to the invention, when the power impact tool is operated in the second hammer mode, the first switch is locked in the on-position while the user is allowed to actuate the second switch such like a toggle switch to drive the motor. Therefore, the user is not required to keep the first switch in the on-position by hand in the second hammer mode. As a result, ease of operation of the power impact tool is enhanced compared with the known art.

Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide an improvement in ease of operation of a driving mode switching mechanism in a hammer drill. According to the invention, a representative hammer drill includes a driving mode switching mechanism which has an operating part, a first switching member and a second switching member.
