Abstract:
A telephone call alerting system is applied to a telephone communication system accommodating a line to which a telephone terminal is connected, a plurality of telephone numbers being assigned to the line. The telephone call alerting system includes an output unit for outputting information indicating a telephone number of a call when the call is received by the telephone terminal, a plurality of informing units for outputting an alert indicating that a call has been received by the telephone terminal, each of the plurality of informing units corresponding to one of the plurality of telephone numbers, a memory unit for storing a table indicating a relationship between the plurality of telephone numbers and the plurality of informing units, an identification unit, when the call is received by the telephone terminal, for identifying one of the plurality of informing units corresponding to the telephone number indicated by the information output by the output means, with reference to the table, and a control unit, when the call is received by said telephone terminal, for supplying an instruction of outputting the alert to the one of the plurality of informing units identified by the identification means, so that the one of the plurality of informing units outputs the alert.
Abstract:
A file managing system manages a plurality of files shared with a plurality of users. The files are linked to each other, and are controlled in accordance with link information. File control information is defined to represent a status of rights given to each of the users who is permitted to perform a processing which corresponds to one of the rights the status of which is in an on-state. The file control information is produced for each of the files. Link control information including link information representing a condition of the link between the first file and the second file is defined. The link control information further includes information which represents whether each of the users is permitted to use the link. The link control information is produced for each of the files. The access of each of said users to the files and the access of each of users to the link is controlled in accordance with the file control information and the link control information. The link control information may further include first propagation information which represents whether a processing performed on a first file is to be reflected to a second file so that a processing performed on the second file may be controlled, when the first file is processed, in accordance with the first propagation information.
Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to realize an electronic mail system wherein related electronic mail is automatically displayed when a telephone call is placed. The electronic mail system of the invention is constructed by linking an electronic mail system composed of a plurality of terminals and an electronic mail center, with a telephone system composed of a plurality of telephones and a telephone exchange, the telephones being associated in advance with individual users. The electronic mail center is equipped with means for storing a table of correspondence between user IDs and telephone numbers, a terminal interface capable of identifying the users using the terminals, and a status variable management table for managing status variables by which to recognize the mail currently displayed. The telephone exchange notifies the calling and called telephone numbers to the electronic mail center upon the reception of a call request, and the electronic mail center then identifies the user IDs in accordance with the correspondence table and transmits the related electronic mail for display on the terminals of the calling user and called user.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus can be installed in a DMZ and is connectable to an intranet and to an external network. The apparatus includes first means for transmitting or receiving a signal over the intranet, and transmitting or receiving a signal over the external network, to cause a call to be established over both of the intranet and the external network; and second means for transmitting and receiving data over the established call.
Abstract:
A gateway apparatus connects a packet-switched network to a PSTN, the packet-switched network having a plurality of information terminals connected thereto. The gateway apparatus includes a recognition operation, an incoming call notification operation and a connection operation. The gateway operates (or is configured) to recognize information terminals on the packet-switched network. The incoming call notification operation notifies all the recognized information terminals of an incoming call upon reception of an incoming call from the PSTN. The connection operation connects the PSTN to an information terminal that has responded to the incoming call notification first. An incoming call notification may be sent to all or a plurality of the information terminals on the packet-switched network in a point-to-multipoint communication using a broadcast address or a multi-cast address. Source-identifying information and destination telephone numbers on the PSTN may be allotted to the information terminals in advance so that the destination of an incoming call notification can be specified. Additionally, a telephone message recorder terminal may be used to receive incoming calls when no other terminal responds to the incoming call.
Abstract:
In a computer linked to a terminal display, and an input device such as a keyboard, being able to transmit and receive electronic mail by using a transmitting and receiving part for transmitting and receiving electronic mail consists of a random access memory for storing received electronic mail, a display controller for displaying the contents of an electronic mail stored in the memory originally provided in the computer, and a linkage function to a telephone exchange for automatically connecting an own telephone to the telephone of a sender of electronic mail by using a part of the data, for example, a telephone number, in the received electronic mail when a telephone connection request is input to the computer by the receiver of the electronic mail. The linkage function part includes a memory for storing an own telephone number, a reading or retrieving part for obtaining a sender's telephone number, and a controller for controlling a telephone exchange to connect the own telephone and the sender's telephone.
Abstract:
A telephone set and an information terminal are connected by a packet switched network. The information terminal has a control target list in which a predetermined telephone set information is stored, and a terminal controller. The terminal controller generates, based on an instruction from a user, a control command in which an instruction related to multimedia phone communication is recorded, and sends that command to the predetermined telephone set. The predetermined telephone set has a terminal list storing information about the information terminal, and a telephone controller. The telephone controller generates, based on the control command received from the information terminal, a call control command for performing multimedia phone communication with another telephone set on the packet switched network, and sends that command to the other telephone set.
Abstract:
An apparatus to collect information about network failure includes: a normal mode packet assembly unit to assemble a transmission packet from transmission data output from an application in a normal mode being a procedure used when a transmission process is performed by specified communication protocol; a special mode packet assembly unit to assemble the transmission packet from the transmission data in a special mode being a procedure in which a procedure for collecting failure information is embedded into the procedure used when a transmission process is performed by the specified communication protocol; a switching control unit to activate the normal mode packet assembly unit or the special mode packet assembly unit selectively; and a response analysis unit to collect failure information according to a behavior of the response to the transmission packet transmitted from the special mode packet assembly unit.
Abstract:
There is provided a measuring apparatus for acquiring packets being transmitted and received within a packet network and measuring communication quality on the basis of the acquired packets, the apparatus including a part that extracts packets acquired within one of given sampling periods, each sampling period set intermittently, and a part that measures communication quality on the basis of the packets acquired within the sampling period.
Abstract:
A measurement method and communication system include a writing of a creation time upon a detection packet used for detecting a communication state of a network being created into the detection packet. The method includes obtaining a send time when the detection packet was sent and sending, to a receiving apparatus which receives the detection packet, as a notification, information regarding a time period from when the detection packet was created to when the detection packet was sent. The method includes measuring, in the receiving apparatus, a delay occurring in the network based on the detection packet and the information sent as the notification.
