Abstract:
A connector (200) provides improved robustness and strength with a header (202) configured to retain and expose a plurality of receptacles (204). The exposed portion of each receptacle provides a surface mount solderable element as part of the overall connector. Another embodiment further provides a lead (208) extending from the exposed portion of the receptacle to provide an additional leaded solderable element to the connector. Thus, the connector can provide both surface mount capability and/or a combination of surface mount and lead mount capability. The exposed portions of the receptacles may be soldered flush to a board (302), thus minimizing z-height of the connector to the board and allowing for a larger sized diameter receptacle.
Abstract:
An inductive landing apparatus for an unmanned aerial vehicle and methods of operation. One method includes locating, with a flight controller, an overhead power line. The method includes controlling a flight system communicatively coupled to the flight controller to bring the unmanned aerial vehicle in proximity to the overhead power line. The method includes controlling the flight system to position the unmanned aerial vehicle such that a first inductive clamp and a second inductive clamp of the unmanned aerial vehicle are aligned with the overhead power line. The method includes causing the first and second inductive clamps to open. The method includes causing the first and second inductive clamps to close around the overhead power line. The method includes inductively coupling the first and second inductive clamps to the overhead power line.

Abstract:
A communication system (200) provides a self-driving vehicle (122) having a plurality of processor controlled interface devices (230) that acquire input pertaining to a detainee and an infraction associated with the detainee located within the vehicle. The processor controlled interface devices (230) provide mobile law enforcement processing and proceedings of the detainee within the self-driving vehicle (122). The self-driving vehicle (122) automatically delivers the detainee to an approved location determined by the mobile law enforcement processes and proceedings.
Abstract:
A portable radio (100) having a control knob (102) can further enable additional radio control functions through a rapid back and forth bi-directional rotation (202, 204, 206) of the knob (102). No additional buttons or menu features are required.
Abstract:
A conductive solder pad for a ball grid array (BGA) includes a concave edge to accommodate a via that exits a substrate at a position at the surface of the substrate that is offset from the solder pad. The offset arrangement of the via and solder pad allow for differential thermal expansion of the substrate material and the via material with reduced risk of cracking or fracturing the solder joint. The concave edge of the solder pad provides a gap from the via to avoid unintended electrical connections while maintaining the solder-joint pitch of the BGA.
Abstract:
An electrical contact pin for a printed circuit board. The electrical contact pin includes a first cylindrical portion having a first diameter and a second cylindrical portion extending from the first cylindrical portion. The second cylindrical portion has a second diameter larger than the first diameter. The second cylindrical portion includes a ledge configured to press against a wall of a printed circuit board. The second cylindrical portion further includes a groove configured to receive a sealing material.
