摘要: A locking device for use in a rotor blade, said locking device comprising: a locking member that is arranged to be movable from an unlocked position to a locking position upon experiencing sufficiently fast rotation; and a selectively engagable retaining device arranged when engaged to retain the locking member in the unlocked position. The locking device will typically default to an unlocked position during normal rotation and will only be locked so as to prevent movement when the retaining device is de-activated. A method of locking an actuator is also disclosed. The locking device has applications in helicopter rotor blades and wind turbine blades amongst others.

摘要: A rotary seal comprising: a shaft with a chromium oxide coating provided at a seal contact area; wherein said coating has a hardness of at least 55 Rockwell-C. The coating may have a surface roughness parameter (Ra) of between 0.2 and 0.4 circular. The coating may have a thickness of at least 0.1 mm. The coating layer forms part of a rotary seal with a flexible seal element that is biased into contact with the surface of the coating. The flexible seal element may be biased against the shaft by a spring to increase the pressure of the flexible seal element against the coating. The coating is preferably deposited by a plasma spray process.

摘要: A torque limiter and no-back assembly comprises an input shaft, an output shaft, a torque limiter provided between the input shaft and the output shaft, the torque limiter comprising a torque sensing element; and a no-back device arranged to brake the output shaft when the torque sensing element senses levels of torque above a threshold level between the input shaft and the output shaft, characterised in that the torque sensing element comprises a torsion spring having ends which are coupled to the input shaft and the output shaft for rotation therewith.

The control system comprises a first drive system comprising a first movable component, and a second drive system comprising a second movable component. The first component and the second component are connected to the output shaft, and each other, by a connecting member that moves with the first component and the second component to move the output shaft for actuating a component. The control system further comprises one or more bearing arrangements configured to permit movement of the connecting member by the first movable component or the second movable component upon failure, disengagement, shutdown or other stoppage of the second drive system or the first drive system, respectively.

摘要: An actuator comprises an input shaft, a sliding collar arranged around the input shaft, and an output shaft. The input shaft, output shaft and sliding collar are arranged such that a torque applied to the input shaft can be transmitted via the sliding collar to the output shaft. The actuator comprises a torque-limiting device for limiting the transmission of torque between the input shaft and the output shaft if the torque exceeds a certain threshold. The torque-limiting device comprises one or more rolling elements arranged between the sliding collar and the input shaft to allow the sliding collar to move axially relative to the input shaft and engage with or disengage from the output shaft.
