    摘要: Mounting systems for structural members, fastening assemblies thereof, and vibration isolation systems including the same are provided. Mounting systems comprise a pair of mounting brackets, each clamped against a fastening assembly forming a mounting assembly. Fastening assemblies comprise a spherical rod end comprising a spherical member having a through opening and an integrally threaded shaft, first and second seating members on opposite sides of the spherical member and each having a through opening that is substantially coaxial with the spherical member through opening, and a partially threaded fastener that threadably engages each mounting bracket forming the mounting assembly. Structural members have axial end portions, each releasably coupled to a mounting bracket by the integrally threaded shaft. Axial end portions are threaded in opposite directions for permitting structural member rotation to adjust a length thereof to a substantially zero strain position. Structural members may be vibration isolator struts in vibration isolation systems.

    摘要: A swivel joint has uniform ball bearing requirements for all bearing races. The swivel joint has a male connector and a female connector that coaxially interconnect and swivel relative to each other while still maintaining a high pressure seal. Each connector has three bearing races to form three sets of bearing races, each of which supports the same number of ball bearings. The circumference of the main set of races are enlarged by less than the diameter of one ball, so it is impossible to add another ball to the coupled male and female connectors of the swivel joint.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a swivel joint for fluid conduits which comprises a central axis; a tubular male member having an outer annular surface, a first end and at least first and second outer annular grooves formed on the outer surface coaxial with the central axis; a tubular female member having an inner annular recess, an annular shoulder formed at an inner end of the recess and at least first and second inner annular grooves formed on the recess coaxial with the central axis; wherein the outer surface of the male member is adapted to be received in the recess of the female member such that the first end is disposed proximate the shoulder and each outer groove is aligned with a corresponding inner groove to thereby define at least first and second annular races; a plurality of balls disposed in each race to secure said male and female members together and to facilitate relative rotation of the male and female members about the central axis; wherein the radius of each race as measured from the central axis is greater than the radius of each adjacent race closer to the first end of the male member; and wherein the number of balls in each race is one more than the number of balls in each adjacent race closer to the first end.

    摘要: A rotary steam-heated system and a source of steam under superatmospheric pressure are connected together by a coupling having a tubular shaft extending along and rotatable about an axis and having an outer end supporting the system and an inner end. A housing engaged around the inner end forms therewith a chamber connected to the source and opening into the tubular shaft so that steam from the source can flow through the chamber into the shaft and therethrough to the system. A bearing supports the shaft in the housing and a primary seal closing an outer side of the chamber is engaged between the housing and the shaft. A secondary seal between the primary seal and the bearing is engaged between the housing and the shaft and the housing forms an annular compartment around the shaft between the primary and secondary seals and is formed with at least one passage communicating between the compartment and the chamber so that some of the steam in the chamber can flow via the passage from the chamber into the compartment. The housing is cooled at the compartment and to condense steam therein so that the condensed steam lubricates the primary and secondary seals.

    摘要: A cage and roller type roller bearing is provided. The bearing generally include a cylindrical cage and a plurality of rollers which are maintained in position by the cage. The cage includes a pair of circumferential sections and a plurality of axial sections extending between the pair of circumferential sections and spaced apart at a predetermined pitch in the circumferential direction to thereby define a plurality of windows each receiving therein a corresponding roller rotatably and generally rectangular in shape and somewhat larger in size than the roller. Each of the axial sections has its central inner portion of its inner surface removed to define an inner recess so that the axial section is divided into a relatively thin central portion and a pair of relatively thick end portions. In the preferred embodiment, the relatively thick end portion is calked to define a pair of inner and outer roller holding projections and a pair of inner and outer grooves at the inner and outer peripheral surfaces thereof, respectively. These inner and outer roller holding projections defined by calking serve to prevent the roller from slipping away from the corresponding window, and the inner and outer grooves serve as oil pockets for reserving a quantity of lubricant therein.

    摘要: A low-temperature fluid, delivered by a stationary cooling plant to a rotating load, passes to and from the load by way of two coaxial ducts which are thermally shielded from each other and from the outside by vacuum spaces, these ducts and spaces being formed by four jointly rotating coaxially nested tubes. The return duct lies between the inner and the outer tube pair, the latter pair terminating at an outlet between two ball bearings respectively supporting the outer and the inner tube pair; the bearings are located in stationary journal boxes containing annular seals which elastically engage the outer tube of the respective pair, these seals being located in chambers maintained at near-ambient temperature by heat transfer through the metallic wall of the box. Between these journal boxes the tubes are surrounded by an outer jacket forming another vacuum space around them; the seal chamber of each box communicates with one of the fluid-circulating ducts through a narrow annular clearance formed between the outermost rotating tube and an enveloping fixed tube, this clearance being sandwiched between vacuum spaces and long enough to develop a low temperature gradient therealong. The pairs of rotating tubes are interconnected at one end by corrugated expansion joints allowing relative dimensional changes due to temperature variations.
