摘要: A dual digitizer for digitizing both transparent and reflective data mediums is provided where light from the reflective illuminator reflects off the transparent illuminator when the transparent illuminator is off to provide a white reference signal for use in calibrating the dual digitizer. A method of calibrating a dual digitizer for reflective scans includes: digitizing a transparent data medium; calibrating the dual digitizer to establish a white reference signal, the calibrating step including generating a light beam, reflecting a first portion of the light beam off a transparent illuminator, and utilizing the first portion of said light beam to establish the white reference signal; and digitizing a reflective data medium. The dual digitizer may be used in medical applications to digitize a transparent data medium such as an X-ray film.

摘要: A digitizer having an illuminator with a mask configured to rotate about a central axis for reducing flare from the illuminator when digitizing a data medium having a width less than an associated length of the illuminator. A page width guide of the digitizer may be operatively coupled to the mask so that movement of the page width guide automatically rotates the mask a predetermined amount. A rare gas, external electrode, cold cathode fluorescent lamp may also be utilized as an illuminator in the digitizer.

摘要: Green glass content of mixed color glass cullet is selectively decolorized by using copper oxide and is used as an input component in a conventional glass production process. To determine how much copper oxide to add, the weight percent of green glass in the provided glass cullet supply is determined and an effective amount of copper oxide to, at least partially, decolorize the green glass is determined wherein an effective amount is determined using a non-linear inverse prediction model between the weight percent of green glass or chromium and/or iron content and the copper oxide. The amount of copper oxide is thus non-linearly adjusted for increasing levels of green glass in the glass batch. To compensate for the darkening of the glass by the additional copper oxide, the redox of the glass may be made slightly less reducing as the amount of chrome and copper is increased.

摘要: A system and associated method for arthroscopic repair is particularly adapted in reattaching a ligament and/or tendon to cortical bone of the shoulder. A suture anchor system includes a suture anchor, preferably, a screw anchor, and an installation tool for installing the suture anchor in tissue. The suture anchor defines a longitudinal axis and has a longitudinal cannulation for reception and passage of a guide wire. The suture anchor has trailing and leading ends, and an anchor head adjacent the trailing end thereof. The anchor head includes at least one eyelet for reception of a suture and an internal bore therein. The installation tool includes a main body and a driver head extending from the main body. The main body includes an outer surface having a longitudinal recess therein to accommodate the suture. The driver head is correspondingly dimensioned to be received within the internal bore of the anchor head of the suture anchor whereby movement of the installation tool about a longitudinal axis, e.g., rotational movement, thereof causes corresponding movement, e.g., rotational, of the suture anchor. The installation tool may also define a longitudinal cannulation for reception and passage of the guide wire.
