Abstract: A pre-dispersion for a positive electrode and a positive electrode slurry for a lithium secondary battery containing the same are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a pre-dispersion comprises a positive electrode additive represented by the following Chemical Formula 1, a first conductive material, a binder:
LipCo(1-q)M1qO4 [Chemical Formula 1]
wherein M1 is one or more elements selected from the group consisting of W, Cu, Fe, V, Cr, Ti, Zr, Zn, Al, In, Ta, Y, La, Sr, Ga, Sc, Gd, Sm, Ca, Ce, Nb, Mg, B, and Mo, 5≤p≤7, and 0≤q≤0.5. Dispersibility and workability of the positive electrode additive in the positive electrode slurry are improved. Side reactions that may be generated in the preparation of the positive electrode slurry can be suppressed while minimizing the loss of the positive electrode additive, so that the electrical properties of the electrodes manufactured using the same are improved.-

Abstract: A lithium secondary battery and a method of manufacturing the lithium secondary battery are provided. In the lithium secondary battery, a positive electrode additive represented by Formula 1 as an irreversible additive is included in a positive electrode mixture layer, and a ratio (CC/DC) of an initial charge capacity (CC) to an initial discharge capacity (DC) is adjusted within a specific range, thereby reducing the amount of oxygen gas generated in the charging/discharging of the lithium secondary battery, and at the same time, inhibiting self-discharging and improving an operating voltage by improving the open circuit voltage of the battery in initial activation and/or subsequent high-temperature storage. The lithium secondary battery including the same can be effectively used as a power source for mid-to-large devices such as electric vehicles.

Abstract: A positive electrode for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery including the same, and a method of making the same are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a positive electrode includes a current collector, a first mixture layer, and a second mixture layer that are sequentially stacked, wherein the first mixture layer includes a first binder composed of a rubber-based resin, and wherein the second mixture layer includes a second binder composed of a fluorine-based resin derived from a fluorine (F)-containing monomer. By using a first binder exhibiting more hydrophobicity than a second binder adhesive strength between a positive electrode current collector and the mixture layer, and durability of the positive electrode, can be improved. When the first mixture layer contains a positive electrode additive, damage to the positive electrode can be minimized, and the electrical performance and lifetime of the lithium secondary battery can be improved.
