Abstract: Disclosed is a secondary battery having a novel structure in which a jelly-roll type electrode assembly (“jelly-roll”) in which a cathode including a cathode active material coated portion on at least one surface of a cathode current collector, an anode including an anode active material coated portion on at least one surface of an anode current collector, and a separator disposed therebetween are wound and an electrolyte are accommodated in a battery case, and at least one of a cathode lead coupled to a cathode uncoated portion and an anode lead coupled to an anode uncoated portion includes a first metal layer used for coupling with an electrode uncoated portion and/or coupling with a battery case and a second metal layer having a relatively lower resistance than that of the first metal layer, wherein the first and second metal layers are coupled to each other.

Abstract: An electrode assembly and a battery are provided. The electrode assembly may be effectively fixed inside a can as a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape attached to an outer circumferential surface of the electrode assembly is formed into a 3D shape by an electrolyte. Thus, the electrode assembly does not move and rotate inside the can due to external vibration or impact and damage of welded regions of a tab or disconnection of inner circuits can be prevented.

Abstract: A cylindrical secondary battery is disclosed. The cylindrical secondary battery includes a jelly-roll type electrode assembly, a center pin inserted to penetrate the central portion of the jelly-roll type electrode assembly, a can accommodating the electrode assembly and the center pin, a cap assembly coupled to an upper opening of the can to seal the can, and a gasket interposed between the can and the cap assembly. Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for manufacturing a unit cell including the steps of: preparing an electrode and a separator individually, wherein the separator includes a porous polymer substrate and a porous coating layer disposed on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate and including a mixture of inorganic particles with a binder polymer; applying a lamination solvent to the surface of the separator to be bound with the electrode; and carrying out lamination of the electrode with the separator before the lamination solvent is dried. The method according to the present disclosure can solve the problem of shrinking of a separator occurring in the conventional lamination process.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for injecting an electrolyte to a pouch secondary battery which includes the steps of: interposing an electrode assembly between a first metal laminate film and a second metal laminate film forming a pouch casing, and sealing the edges of each of the films with an electrolyte inlet left therein, thereby providing a pouch secondary battery; mounting the pouch secondary battery between a first jig and a second jig, which are installed in a jig stand so as to have a controllable interval and form a gap space, with the electrolyte inlet facing up, and injecting an electrolyte through the electrolyte inlet; loading the jig stand to a vacuum chamber; increasing the width of the gap space by moving the first and the second jigs so that the area occupied by the electrolyte may be localized in the lower part of the pouch casing, and then forming vacuum atmosphere; and moving the first and the second jigs while maintaining the vacuum atmosphere so that the width of the gap space may be reduced gradually and the liquid surface of the electrolyte may be lifted gradually to a position higher than the top of the electrode assembly.
