Abstract: Left and right earphones are independently wireless such that the left and right earphones are not physically connected when worn by a user. Each earphone comprises a speaker and a body portion with an SOC. Each SOC comprises a wireless communication circuit and a processor. Each speaker is for playing audio streamed to the earphones in a lossy compressed format.

Abstract: Left and right earphones are independently wireless such that the left and right earphones are not physically connected when worn by a user. Each earphone comprises a speaker, a body portion, and an earbud extending from the body portion. The body portion comprises a downwardly extending portion that extends straight downwardly when the earphone is worn by the user, a wireless communication circuit for receiving signals transmitted wirelessly to the earphone from a remote source, a microphone, a rechargeable battery, a memory and a processor. Each earphone is configured to receive from a remote computing device, and store in the memory, a firmware update.

In first operational mode, processor circuit receives, via adapter, and processes digital audio content from personal digital audio player into which adapter is plugged, and the multiple acoustic transducers output the received audio content from the personal digital audio player. In second operational mode, wireless communication circuit receives digital audio content from a remote digital audio source over a wireless network, processor circuit processes the digital audio content received from remote digital audio source, and the multiple acoustic transducers output the audio content received from the remote digital audio source.

Abstract: A wireless earphone that comprises a transceiver circuit for receiving streaming audio from a data source over a local ad hoc wireless network. When the data source and the earphone are out of range, they transition automatically to an infrastructure wireless network. If there is no common infrastructure wireless network for both the data source and the speakerphone set, the earphone connects to a host server via an available wireless network.
