    Abstract: The invention relates to an elevator arrangement, comprising a hoistway one or more vertically oriented guide rail lines in the hoistway for guiding vertical movement of one or more movable elevator units, and one or more movable elevator units mounted in the hoistway vertically movably along one or more guide rail lines, including at least an elevator car, preferably also a counterweight, and a hoisting roping; a movable support structure mounted in the hoistway for supporting said one or more movable elevator units below it via said hoisting roping, and a hoisting machine on the movable support structure for moving the hoisting roping, for thereby moving said one or more movable elevator units. Said movable support structure comprises a body portion, and a shelf structure projecting laterally from the body portion, and the hoisting machine is mounted on the shelf structure. The invention also relates to a method for constructing an elevator implementing the arrangement.

    Abstract: An elevator construction arrangement comprises: a first hoistway in a building, a first elevator car, a first counterweight, car guide rails for guiding the first car, and counterweight guide rails for guiding the first counterweight, a first elevator hoisting machine and a first suspension roping arranged to suspend the first elevator car and the first counterweight during construction time use, a protection deck mounted within the first hoistway during a first elevator installation in a bottom section of the first hoistway, a hoist device for hoisting a working platform, the hoist device preferably comprises a man riding hoist attachable to the first car or to an installation platform, and a hoist rope attachable to the first car or the installation platform and movable with the hoist device, and a first hoisting point configured to support the working platform via the hoist device and the hoist rope. During a first elevator installation in the bottom section of the first hoistway the first hoisting point is configured to be mounted to the protection deck and the working platform guided on the car guide rails is configured to be used as an installation platform in the bottom section of the first hoistway, and after the first elevator installation, the first car is in construction time use configured to be moved in the bottom section of the first hoistway by the first elevator hoisting machine which is installed at a top of the bottom section of the first hoistway and supported by the car guide rail, the first elevator hoisting machine suspending the first car and the first counterweight together with the first suspension roping, while the first hoisting point and the hoist device are removed from the first hoistway.     Abstract: The invention relates to a method for constructing an elevator comprising constructing a movable machine room in the bottom end of a hoistway formed in a building under construction; and thereafter hoisting the movable machine room; and constructing an elevator car in the bottom end of the hoistway below the movable machine room; and providing a counterweight in the bottom end of the hoistway below the movable machine room; connecting the elevator car and the counterweight with a suspension roping; and thereafter hoisting the movable machine room to a first transport position; and thereafter mounting the movable machine room to the first transport position in the hoistway vertically supported on stationary structures; and thereafter using the elevator car for transporting passengers and/or goods below the movable machine room while the machine room is mounted in said first transport position and the elevator car and the counterweight hang suspended from the machine room by the hoisting roping; and thereafter hoisting the movable machine room upwards to a second transport position; wherein the second transport position is higher than said first transport position; and thereafter mounting the movable machine room to the second transport position in the hoistway vertically supported on stationary structures; and thereafter using the elevator car for transporting passengers and/or goods below the movable machine room while the movable machine room is mounted in said second position.
