    Abstract: An ultrasound imaging system includes an array of acoustic elements and a processor circuit configured for communication with the array of acoustic elements. The processor circuit may be configured to control the array of acoustic elements to transmit first ultrasound energy at a first frequency and receive echoes associated with the first ultrasound energy. The processor circuit may be configured to identify an acoustic window based on the echoes associated with the first ultrasound energy and determine a second frequency based on the acoustic window. The processor circuit may be configured to control the array of acoustic elements to transmit second ultrasound energy at the second frequency and receive echoes associated with the second ultrasound energy. The processor circuit may be configured to generate an image based on the echoes associated with the second ultrasound energy and to output the image to a display in communication with the processor circuit.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an ultrasound imaging system that includes a remote server configured for communication with a first ultrasound imaging console and a second ultrasound imaging console. The server is configured to receive, from the first ultrasound imaging console, an upload request for a custom image setting, receive and store the custom image setting. The server is further configured to output, to the second ultrasound imaging console, data representative of the custom image setting; receive a request for the custom image setting; retrieve and send, to the second ultrasound imaging console, the custom image setting such that the second ultrasound imaging console can generate an image with the custom image setting.

    Abstract: An ultrasound imaging system for needle insertion guidance uses a curved array transducer to scan an image field with unsteered beams as a needle is inserted into the image field. Due to differences in the angle of incidence between the radially directed beams and the needle, echoes will return most strongly from only a section of the needle. This section is identified in an image, and the angle of incidence producing the strongest returns is identified. Beams with this optimal angle of incidence are then steered in parallel from the curved array transducer to produce the best needle image. The steep steering angles of some of the steered beams can give rise to side lobe clutter artifacts, which can be identified and removed from the image data using dual apodization processing of the image data.
