    摘要: A reinforcing plate (405) is utilized with a lightweight hub (101) in a vibration damper. Holes (105) formed in the hub (101) and the reinforcing plate (405) allow the vibration damper to be mounted to a shaft with a stronger joint than when the reinforcing plate (405) is not utilized, thereby preventing deformation of the hub (101). Optional reduction holes (111) formed in the hub (101) provide for additional weight reduction, vibration reduction, and/or noise reduction.

    摘要: A piston includes a piston structure being unitarily formed in a powder metallurgy process, the piston structure having a crown assembly and a skirt assembly, at least a partial combustion chamber being formed intersecting a piston crown surface during the powder metallurgy process, the skirt assembly depending from the crown assembly and having two spaced apart pin bosses, each pin boss having a pin bore defined therein, a pair of opposed semi-circular skirt members, each skirt member extending outwardly from and being integrally joined to both of the pin bosses. The piston may be formed by executing a powder metallurgy process on at least two different metallic constituents to define a non-homogenous piston structure. A method of forming a piston is further included.

Generally speaking, the system includes separate primary and secondary NOx reducing systems for delivering reductant to an exhaust stream, a sensor system for determining relevant operating conditions and an electronic control module for activating the reducing systems. Methods for reducing NOx in an exhaust stream are also described. Generally speaking, the methods include the steps of determining a need for NOx reduction in an exhaust stream, determining exhaust temperature, determining ambient temperature, and injecting at least one of a primary reductant and a secondary reductant into the exhaust stream based on the determined temperature. The system and method are particularly useful during cold start conditions, as well as lightly loaded application in conditions where the ambient temperature is below 45 F where the SCR catalyst may not fully function.

    摘要: There is provided an apparatus for a reduced mass balancer shaft that effectively balance first or second order imbalances in an internal combustion engine. The balancer shaft is symmetrical with offset masses that are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction and orientation, and preferably comprises front and rear offset masses between a center section and a front and a rear journal respectively. In a preferred embodiment, there integrally formed stiffening members in the front and rear offset masses that symmetric about the balancer shaft centerline. The front and rear offset masses are each comprised of solid partial annular configurations that extend equally away from the balancer shaft centerline. The center section is comprised of an annular configuration.
