Abstract:
A mounting for an oil gun in an associated steam generation boiler which includes a stationary union block having first and second output ports for respective fluid streams; a removable block having first and second input ports dimensioned and configured for registration with the first and second output ports; apparatus for mounting the stationary union block which comprises a collar welded to the end of an associated guide pipe and apparatus coupling the collar and the stationary union block and allowing relative pivotal moment between the collar and the stationary union; and apparatus for forcing the removable union block against the stationary union block with the respective ports thereof in registered relationship. In some forms of the invention the apparatus coupling the collar and the stationary union comprises a pin, the pin extending through the stationary union block. The apparatus coupling the collar and the stationary union block may comprise first and second plates that are carried on the pin. In some forms of the invention the first and second plates are disposed in spaced relation and are welded to the collar. The apparatus for forcing the removable union block against the stationary union block may comprise a yoke and the yoke may be carried on the pin. The apparatus for forcing may further include a bolt shaped member and a transversely extending handle.
Abstract:
A damper assembly particularly adapted for use in a hot furnace application that includes a damper blade, a housing having a passageway therein dimensioned and configured for receiving the damper blade, and a shaft carrying the damper for rotational movement in the passageway in the housing. A bearing is disposed at one axial extremity of the shaft. The apparatus also includes bearings including a bearing housing member having an interior portion thereof which is spherical section shaped and a bearing member disposed therein having an outer surface that is a spherical section dimensioned and configured for cooperation with the inner portion of the bearing housing member. The inner members has a bore tightly engaging the shaft and the bore has inboard and outboard ends. The inner member includes a counterbore disposed in concentric relationship with the bore at the inboard end thereof. A seal is disposed in the counterbore intermediate the shaft and the walls of the counterbore. The apparatus also includes apparatus for supporting the bearing on one side of the passageway of the housing. In some forms of the invention the seal is spring loaded and in other forms it is elastomer loaded.
Abstract:
A (MRFC) solid fuel nozzle tip (12) that is particularly suited to being cooperatively associated with a pulverized solid fuel nozzle (34) of a firing system of the type employed in a pulverized solid fuel-fired furnace (10). The MRFC solid fuel nozzle tip (12) includes fuel air shroud means (46), primary air shroud means (48) located within the fuel air shroud means (46), fuel air shroud support means (50) operative for supporting the primary air shroud means (48) relative to the fuel air shroud means (46), and splitter plate means (52) mounted in supported relation within the primary air shroud means (48). The MRFC solid fuel nozzle tip (12) may be comprised of ceramics including silicon nitride, siliconized silicon carbide, mullite bonded silicon carbide alumina composite, and alumina zirconia composites.
Abstract:
A steam generating system includes a nozzle for pulverized coal and air which includes an elongated generally cylindrical body having a nozzle at one axial portion thereof. The apparatus also includes a nozzle tip that is generally sleeve shaped and dimensioned to overlap an axial extremity of the body. The tip is mounted for pivotal movement about the extremity of the body and the nozzle tip includes first and second surfaces dimensioned and configured for receiving therebetween all flow from the body. The apparatus also includes a seat plate that is also generally sleeve shaped and dimensioned and configured to provide sealing between the extremity and the nozzle tip. The seal plate is mounted for pivotal movement about the extremity of the body and is dimensioned and configured to have third and fourth surfaces disposed respectively in closely spaced relationship to the first and second surfaces throughout all possible pivotal positions of the seal plate and the nozzle tip. This closely spaced relationship defines an elongated slat for passage of air. The seal plate includes a stop to limit relative pivotal motion between the nozzle tip and the seal plate. The first and second planar surfaces are disposed with the plan thereof parallel to the direction of flow of gases and thus allow the gases to pass through the slot without impediment.
Abstract:
An outer shroud for a solid fuel nozzle tip includes: an top shell portion and a bottom shell portion, each portion fabricated from a preform produced from a single sheet of flat stock and each shell portion including a forward area and a backward area and outlet sidewalls, wherein a right outlet sidewall and a left outlet sidewall are each separated from the forward area by a rounded corner; and a left inlet sidewall and a right inlet sidewall coupled to the top shell portion and the bottom shell portion.
