Abstract:
The present provides deformable molds and methods for manufacturing ophthalmic lenses using deformable molds. The molds of the invention may be used in the custom manufacture of ophthalmic lenses.
Abstract:
A multifocal refractive lens to focus light on the retina of the eye. The lens is comprised of a plurality of segments, having different optical powers, at least one for distance vision and another for near. The lens does not require orientation to produce adequate far and near vision and normal stereoscopic effect. One or both of the segments having the optical powers may have aspherical lens surface. The central zone of the lens consists of only one lens segment, providing a clear central axis. Segments of the other optical power border the first segment along a path defined by a semi-circle or hyperbola that extends from one point along the periphery of the adjoining segments to another point along the periphery of the adjoining segments.
Abstract:
Oriented contact lenses have patterns in which the portion that substantially lies over the sclera when worn on-eye is brightly colored or tinted; the colored or tinted contact lenses can have colored or tinted central portions that enhance the iris when worn on-eye and limbal rings that enhance the limbus.
Abstract:
The invention provides a multifocal lens that incorporates a substantially opaque ring. The lens design minimizes or eliminates ghosting of images. Additionally, the lens' performance on eye is more predictable than other progressive multifocal designs.
Abstract:
The invention provides multifocal lenses for correction of presbyopia. Each of the lenses of the invention provide both distance and near vision correction by providing both a first multifocal region, a monofocal region, and a second multifocal region within the same lens.
Abstract:
Disclosed are lacrimal inserts and their method of use for delivery of medication to the eye. The plug includes a body portion sized to pass through a lacrimal punctum and be positioned within a lacrimal canaliculus of the eyelid. The plug may contain a core, or reservoir, at least partially within the body portion comprising a therapeutic agent that is configured to controlled release into the eye.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods for designing ophthalmic lenses, and lenses produced by this method, which lenses corrects both low order and high order wavefront aberrations of the lens wearer's eyes.
