Abstract:
A technique to gather and assess the quality of a location based services provided to a mobile wireless device via a wireless network includes providing location-based service information by referring to a target location of a requested item of interest within a proximity of the present location of the mobile wireless device. Subjective quality or accuracy information can be submitted to the wireless network from the from the wireless device. The subjective quality or accuracy information is correlated with event and condition information affecting the wireless network. Reports can be generated which indicate the quality and accuracy information of the target location information. The reports are useful for troubleshooting location-based service inaccuracy.
Abstract:
A system for utilization in connection with an automated telephone attendant comprises a recognizer component that determines information associated with a caller, such as identity of the caller, that is connected with the automated telephone attendant. An organization component dynamically determines which menu options to provide to the caller and an order of the menu options based at least in part upon the determined information associated with caller.
Abstract:
A video quality monitoring system allows the operator of a user device to report on received video quality. The video quality monitoring system allows the device user to establish or accept a communication that includes video displayed on the user device via a communications network. The video quality monitoring system may provide a manual or automated user-feedback process for the user to specify information about the received video quality as perceived by the user. User feedback may be correlated with time, location, video server performance, call data records, network performance, road traffic and weather data to produce an association of network events and conditions that correspond to user quality ratings.
Abstract:
An automatic radio station tuning control system senses when a mobile radio receiver is leaving the coverage area of the transmitter that is transmitting program content, and entering the coverage area of another transmitter that is transmitting the same program content. The program content can be from a radio station, a mobile internet application, or the like. The mobile radio performs re-tuning to the other transmitter in order to continue to receive the program content even though the mobile radio is leaving the coverage area of the first transmitter. The tuning control system can provide uninterrupted coverage to a listener of a radio when the radio receiver is, for example, in a vehicle traversing a mountainous area, or when the radio receiver is moving from one WiFi hot spot to another.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an electrical control circuit (10) for controlling current through a furnace coil or other resistive load (14). The control circuit includes a plurality of current control stages (12(1), 12(2), . . . 12(N)), a minimum circuit (16), and a control system (22) which provides feedback from the load. The control circuit utilizes a signal conditioner (20) and a sensor (18) to provide information regarding the load to the minimum circuit. The minimum circuit provides the minimum of inputs from the control system and a limit circuit (24) to the current control stages, thereby controlling the current that is drawn through the load. Each current control stage includes an operational amplifier (30), a pass transistor (34), a sense resistor (R.sub.s), and a feedback resistor (R.sub.f). The sense resistors ensure that there is current sharing through each of the current control stages. The operational amplifiers are a pre-drive to the pass transistors to allow smaller sense resistors to be used. The feedback resistors (R.sub.f) provide degenerative feedback to the operational amplifiers.

Disclosed is an electrical control circuit (10) for controlling current through a plurality of resistive loads (14(1), 14(2) . . . 14(N)). The control circuit includes a plurality of current control stages (12(1), 12(2), . . . 12(N)), a comparator circuit (18), and a plurality of diodes D.sub.1, D.sub.2. . . D.sub.N-1 in serial connection with the current control stages. The comparator circuit controls the current that is drawn collectively through the loads. The diodes ensure that all preceding current control stages in the series are conducting a predetermined level of current before the next current control stage begins to source current through its respective load. Each current control stage includes an operational amplifier (30), a pass transistor (34), a sense resistor (R.sub.s), and a feedback resistor (R.sub.f). The operational amplifiers are a pre-drive to the pass transistors to allow smaller sense resistors to be used, thereby providing greater efficiency. The feedback resistors (R.sub.f) provide feedback to the operational amplifiers.

Abstract:
A call quality monitoring system allows a user of a mobile device to report on call quality or otherwise provide information relating to the quality of a wireless communication experience. The call quality monitoring system may allow the mobile device user to establish or accept a call placed on the wireless communication network. The call quality monitoring system may provide at least partially-automated user-feedback process for the user to specify information about the quality of the call from a device from which the call was placed or from a device located at or near a location of the call. The call quality monitoring system may collect information provided by the user in association with specifying information about the quality of the call.
Abstract:
An optical repeater that amplifies and reshapes an input pulse without converting the pulse into the electrical domain. The repeater comprises an optical gain device, a mode selector, and an optical thresholding material. The optical gain device comprises an optical gain material with anti-reflection coatings at its input and output ports. The mode selector receives an optical signal amplified by the gain medium, and preferentially transmits one or more preselected spatial modes to the thresholding material, which shapes the pulses for retransmission.
