Abstract:
Technologies for monitoring data storage location for cloud data include a cloud monitoring server configured to communicate with one or more cloud customer computing devices and cloud service providers. The cloud monitoring server receives monitoring requests from the cloud customer computing devices and retrieves provider information from the cloud service providers. The cloud monitoring server compiles response data based on the monitoring requests and the provider information, and sends response data to the cloud customer computing devices. Cloud customer computing devices may send on-demand monitoring requests and/or continuous, policy-based monitoring requests. For policy-based monitoring, the cloud monitoring server continually monitors the provider information and provides response data when one or more conditions specified in the policy are satisfied. The cloud monitoring server may also make recommendations and provide feedback based on the monitoring requests or the provider information. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
Technologies are presented that provide location-based information distribution to targeted media devices. A method of distributing information by an information server in a networked media system may include determining a location of a first media device, determining one or more topics being consumed on the first media device, obtaining information categorically associated with one or more of the determined topics or the location of the first media device, and providing the obtained information to one or more of the first media device or a second media device in use within a predetermined proximity of the first media device. Determination of the location of the first media device may include determining whether the first media device is within a predetermined proximity of one or more other media devices with fixed known locations or of the information server. The provided information may include such information as advertisements, media recommendations, etc.
Abstract:
Technologies for performing a platform transformation on a computing device include transforming a transformable component of the computing device from a first hardware configuration in which a first set of hardware features is enabled to a second hardware configuration in which different hardware features are enabled. The computing device has a first capability when in the first configuration and a different capability when in the second configuration. In performing the platform transformation, the computing device determines a platform transformation build, establishes a communication connection with a cloud-based platform transformation service, and identifies and retrieves relevant platform definitions from the cloud-based platform transformation service. The platform definitions are used in effecting the desired platform transformation.
Abstract:
An improved call waiting feature implementation for use with conventional analog station sets. When a called station is busy, a call waiting signal is transmitted to the called station. If the called station flashes, a communication path betwaeen the previous caller and the called station is disconnected and the calling party name is spoken, using text-to-speech, to the called station. If the called party chooses to take the new call after learning the calling party name, the called station transmits a DTMF digit or allows the expiration of a predetermined time period without signaling. In response a communication path is completed between the second caller and the called station. If the called party chooses to instead return to the previous call, the called staion flashes. In response a communication path is completed between the previous caller and the called station.
Abstract:
A call announcement arrangement that obtains the calling party name from a database search and uses a text-to-speech unit to generate speech signals for transmission to the called communication station. The calling party name is spoken at the station instead of being displayed. For a conventional analog station, the name is spoken after the called party has answered in response to ringing at the station but before a connection is completed to the caller. The called party accepts the caller either by remaining off-hook or by transmitting a connection signal using, for example, flash or tone signaling. For other illustrative station equipment such as an ISDN speakerphone or a specially adapted analog speakerphone, the calling party name is spoken before the called party answers in place of or in addition to normal ringing. Caller-identifying speech signal are also transmitted to a station determined to be busy to announce the caller name for a call waiting call.

Abstract:
Technologies for establishing and utilizing a decentralized cloud infrastructure using a plurality of mobile computing devices include broadcasting for the formation of the decentralized cloud computing and storage infrastructure and establishing wireless communications between the plurality of mobile computing devices. The plurality of mobile computing devices self-organize and cooperate with one another to establish a structured decentralized cloud infrastructure to expose and sharing resources, services, and/or applications for ad hoc or socially-driven decentralized, cloud computing purposes.
Abstract:
A method, device, and system for browser-based application security verification is disclosed. A client device requests a browser-based application from a web server. An application security module of the client device intervenes and transmits an application verification request to a cloud service system. The cloud service system retrieves data regarding the security of the application and source from cloud resources and a local database of the cloud server. The cloud service system then uses the data to authenticate the source and verify the security of the browser-based application. The cloud service system provides the client device with a recommendation regarding the security of the browser-based application and updates its local database. The client device may then consider the recommendation in determining whether to download or execute the browser-based application and provide feedback to the cloud service system. The client device may also perform a local security analysis after receiving the cloud service system's recommendation.
Abstract:
A call waiting deluxe method where a switching system forwards calls to a service node that provides specialized call processing, e.g., processing requiring text-to-speech, to a number of switching systems without requiring modification of the hardware design of those systems. Only calls to busy called stations are forwarded to the service node using a call forwarding-busy line feature to avoid unnecessary delays and excessive service node traffic for normal calls. The service node uses the same directory number that was initially dialed for the call, in invoking a call waiting-originating feature which takes precedence over the call forwarding-busy line feature and results in the transmission of a call waiting signal to the called station. The service node obtains the calling party name from a database and responds to a flash signal from the called station by speaking the calling party name to the called party. The service node also transmits an announcement to the called station including a number of call handling options, and responds to a signal from the called station defining one of the options by controlling handling of the incoming call in accordance with the defined option.
Abstract:
A communication station capable of transmitting audible speech represented by speech signals received on the line during the on-hook state. A calling party name may be spoken at the station without requiring the call to be answered. The station is also usable, while on-hook, for receiving voice messages, e.g., emergency warnings, transmitted from a central office or customer premises switch.
