Abstract: A rack-parallel electric power steering device includes a housing that covers the periphery of a speed reducer, and a drain valve provided in the housing. The drain valve includes a first case, a second case mounted to the outer peripheral portion of a bottom portion of the first case, and a valve element that closely contacts a bottom surface of the first case. A through hole is formed in the bottom portion of the first case. The second case includes a bottom portion which is disposed with a gap from the bottom portion of the first case and in which discharge holes are formed. The valve element is an elastic member that blocks an opening portion of the through hole of the first case and that is held between the first case and the second case.

Abstract: In an electric power steering system, rotation of a motor is transmitted to a rack shaft via a drive pulley, a belt, a driven pulley and a ball nut. A ball bearing and the driven pulley are fitted to the outer periphery of the ball nut. A flange is formed at a first end portion of the ball nut, and an internal thread portion is formed at a second end portion of the ball nut. An external thread member is connected to the internal thread portion. The external thread member has an external thread portion and a flange. By fastening the external thread portion to the internal thread portion, the ball bearing and the driven pulley are held between the two flanges.

Abstract: Two flat surface portions are provided on portions of a rack shaft away from rack teeth and a back surface in the circumferential direction. The two flat surface portions are parallel to each other. A rotation stopping member has a case and a low-friction member. The hollow portion provided inside the case includes two flat surface portions that face each other in a direction Y and extend in parallel with each other, and two flat surface portions that face each other in a direction Z and extend orthogonally to the flat surface portions. A slight clearance is provided between the outer surface of the rack shaft and the inner surface of the rotation stopping member (low-friction member). The rotation stopping member is disposed on the outer periphery of the rack shaft. The outer periphery of the rotation stopping member is fixed to the inner periphery of a rack housing.

Abstract: The four-wheel steering system includes a rear-wheel steering system that steers rear wheels of the vehicle in accordance with a steering angle of a steering wheel. When the vehicle speed is lower than a vehicle speed threshold, the rear-wheel steering system steers the rear wheels in an opposite direction to that in which the front wheels are steered. When the vehicle speed is lower than the vehicle speed threshold, the rear-wheel steering system sharply increases the rate of increase in target steered angle of the rear wheels with respect to an increase in steering angle when an absolute value of the steering angle is equal to or larger than an absolute value of an angle threshold. The front-wheel steering system has a motor that is a source of a steering assist force and a first ECU that controls the motor in accordance with the steering state.

Abstract: A steering system is provided in which a bearing of a tension pulley has a reduced load-carrying capacity. A belt tension adjusting mechanism has a seat provided on an inner surface of a reduction gear housing so as to be able to swing, a rod that is in abutting contact with the seat (bent portion), a feed nut that is screw-threaded over the rod, and a spring member (helical torsion spring) that is fixed to the feed nut at its one end and to the reduction gear housing at the other end. When the belt is loosened, the feed nut is rotated by an elastic force of the spring member, and in conjunction with the rotation, the rod moves away from the feed nut to push the seat (bent portion).

Abstract: The four-wheel steering system includes a front-wheel steering system that steers front wheels of a vehicle and a rear-wheel steering system that steers rear wheels of the vehicle in accordance with a steering angle that is a rotation angle of a steering wheel. The rear-wheel steering system includes a second ECU that, when the vehicle speed is equal to or lower than a vehicle speed threshold, performs antiphase control in which the rear wheels are steered in the opposite direction to that in which the front wheels are steered. When the vehicle speed is equal to or lower than the vehicle speed threshold, the second ECU performs in-phase control in which the rear wheels are steered in the same direction as that in which the front wheels are steered, in response to a specific trigger operation that is performed via the steering wheel.
