Abstract: System and techniques for enhanced electronic navigation maps for a vehicle are described herein. A set of map tiles may be received at a vehicle component from a remote entity. Sensor derived data that has a locality corresponding to a map tile in the set of map tiles may be obtained. A field-programmable gate array of the vehicle may then be invoked to combine the sensor derived data and the map tile to create a modified map tile. The modified map tile may be communicated to a control system of the vehicle.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a road side unit (RSU) establishes a data offload session with a vehicle in the vicinity of the RSU based on a session establishment request sent by the vehicle, and stores data received from the vehicle during the data offload session in its memory. The RSU generates storage record information (including identifying information for the RSU) for the stored data, and transmits the storage record information to the vehicle.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed herein for providing guidance for autonomous vehicles in areas of low network connectivity, such as rural areas. According to an embodiment, a guidance system receives a request to exchange data with a vehicle within a specified radius thereof over a wireless connection (e.g., a radio frequency protocol-based connection). The data is stored by the guidance system and is indicative of navigation information within the specified radius. The guidance system transmits the stored data to the vehicle. The guidance system also receives, from the vehicle, data indicative of navigation information for a path previously passed by the vehicle.

Abstract: Apparatuses, storage media and methods associated with computer assisted driving (CAD), are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, an apparatus includes an autopilot engine to automatically pilot the vehicle out of a potential emergency situation, including to automatically pilot the vehicle for a period of time in view of a plurality of operational guardrails determined in real time for each of a plurality of timing windows; and a mitigation unit to conditionally activate the autopilot engine, including to activate the autopilot engine in response to analysis results indicative of the vehicle being potentially operated into the emergency situation manually. Abstract: The present disclosure describes mechanisms to manage session continuity for edge computing services for edge service consumers. The session management mechanisms include continuity or handing over edge service sessions between edge computing platforms in a same edge compute cluster and between edge computing platforms in different edge compute clusters. The session management mechanisms include edge computing platform switching/handover for user equipment capable of utilizing multiple access network connections and/or multiple access technologies. The described solutions can provide edge service session continuity between connected vehicles and road side units and/or edge compute nodes.

Abstract: To address technical problems facing managing multiple sources of information from multiple vehicles, vehicular computing power may be exploited to process such information before sharing with others, which may help reduce network traffic overhead. A technical solution to improve this information processing over vehicular networks by using a hybrid Named Function Network (NFN) and Information Centric Network (ICN), such as in a hybrid NFN/ICN. An NFN may be used to orchestrate computations in a highly dynamic environment after decomposing the computations into a number of small functions. A function may include a digitally signed binary supplied by a car vendor or other trusted authority and executed within a controlled environment, such as a virtual machine, container, Java runtime-environment, or other controlled environment.
