Abstract: Systems and techniques for quality-of-service (QoS) in cellular information centric network (ICN) are described herein. An example system includes processing circuitry, and a memory that includes instructions, the instructions, when executed by the processing circuitry, cause the processing circuitry to obtain QoS characteristics for an ICN packet, apply the QoS characteristics to the ICN packet, and transmit the ICN packet over the cellular ICN in accordance with the QoS characteristics.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for optimizing the operations of an ICN, particularly for an ICN with clustered nodes. A cluster head node may function as an orchestrator and a coordinator for efficient caching, routing, and computing and for co-existence of ICN and IP nodes in the network. A content store of an ICN router may include an indication of the time after which data expires and the new data is to be swapped in place of the expired data after that point in time. Digital rights management (DRM) enforcement is provided by managing access to a DRM engine in at least one of the ICN nodes in a cluster. Congestion control is provided by minimizing the number of ICN scoped interest requests and thereby minimizing the potentially high volume of data responses. These techniques optimize interest packet forwarding and processing through collaboration with neighboring ICN nodes.

Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamic compute orchestration include receiving, at a network node of an information centric network, a first interest packet comprising a name field indicating a named function and one or more constraints specifying compute requirements for a computing node to execute the named function, the first interest packet received from a client node. A plurality of computing nodes are identified that satisfy the compute requirements for executing the named function. The first interest packet is forwarded to at least some of the plurality of computing nodes. Data packets are received from at least some of the plurality of computing nodes in response to the first interest packet. One of the plurality of computing nodes is selected based on the received data packets, and a second interest packet is sent to the selected one of the plurality of computing nodes instructing the selected one of the plurality of compute nodes to execute the named function.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for information-centric network data cache management are described herein. A demand metric may be calculated for a content item requested from an information-centric network (ICN). A resistance metric may be calculated for each cache node of a set of cache nodes in the ICN based on the demand metric. A topology of the set of cache nodes may be evaluated to identify a transmission cost for each cache node of the set of cache nodes. An influencer node may be selected from the set of cache nodes based on the resistance metric for the influencer node and the transmission cost for the influencer node. The content item may be cached in a data cache of the influencer node.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for node-density aware interest packet forwarding in a dynamic ad hoc information centric network (ICN) are described herein. For example, a next interest packet to forward may be obtained at a network node. A time period to hold the next interest packet before forwarding may be calculated based on node density in the network. The node may then broadcast the next interest packet upon expiration of a timer set to the time period and started when the next interest packet was obtained.

Abstract: System and techniques for capability discovery in an information centric network (ICN) are described herein. An ICN node receives a discovery packet that includes a discovery type corresponding to an indication of a node capability requested by a source node of the discovery packet. First capability data, from an intermediate node, is extracted from the discovery packet. The first capability data is stored locally by ICN node. Second capability data from the ICN node is added to the discovery packet to create an expanded discovery packet. The expanded discovery packet is then communicated by the ICN node.
