Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for surgical equipment monitoring are disclosed. In some embodiments, an electronic health records database and a database of surgical tools is provided. At least one sensor and at least one surgical tool are used before, during, or after a surgical procedure. The at least one sensor associated with the at least one surgical tool is monitored for at least one parameter. The monitored data is compared to the expected value of that parameter for the current step in the surgical procedure from the surgical tools database. In response to determining a potential surgical complication, the system generates a notification indicating the potential surgical complication.

Abstract: A supply tray for a surgical procedure is selected based on the surgical procedure and patient data retrieved from an electronic health records database. Multiple steps of the surgical procedure are retrieved from the electronic health records database. A message is sent to a first manipulator to move a supply from the supply tray to a staging area for performing a step. A first indication is received from a first sensor that the supply is needed at a present time. A position where the supply is needed in an operating area proximate to the staging area is determined using a second sensor. A second message is sent to a second manipulator to move the supply from the staging area to the position. A second indication is received from a third sensor that the step is complete. A third message is sent to a third manipulator to remove the supply.

Abstract: A robotic surgery system comprising a plurality of motorized robotic arms of a surgical robot configured to perform surgical steps on a patient and a display system for multi-user control of the robot of a surgical procedure. The display system includes a console including left and right hand-operated input devices physically manipulatable by a first user and a viewer configured to display one or more instruments carried by the plurality of robotic arms to the second user. The display system also includes a second user device configured to display a graphical user interface having patient data of the patient and an authorization input for a second user to be authorized to switch control of at least one of the robotic arms from the first user to the second user.

Abstract: Haptic feedback from a robotic surgical tool can be adjusted based on intra-operative assessment of the accuracy of a pre-operative surgical navigational plans. Navigational reference points are identified in at least one pre-operative image. At least one haptic response is identified for interactions between at least one robotic surgical tool and at least one navigational reference point. At least one intra-operative image is compared to the pre-operative image to determine the relative position of at least two corresponding navigational reference points in the images. The reference points' relative position determines a confidence level in the accuracy of the pre-operative navigational reference point. The haptic response is adjusted in timing, location, type, or amplitude based upon the confidence level. Tolerances and surgical navigation plan may also be updated and altered based on the confidence level.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods for telemetry-based control of medical equipment scheduling for a surgical procedure based on patient data retrieved from an electronic health records database and a surgical system including the medical equipment. A scheduling prompt is received from a computer device at a medical facility. The medical equipment is telepresence-operated. A surgical consultant is identified from a consultant database based on a surgical consulting requirement. A communication channel is established to send patient data to a user device of the surgical consultant at a remote location to cause the patient data to be displayed by the user device. Operation of the medical equipment is controlled by the user device based on received consultant inputs in compliance with a stored access control list for the surgical consultant. A flow of network traffic is managed for sending patient data to the user device.

Abstract: Monitoring devices monitor physiological parameters of a patient undergoing surgery. The physiological parameters describe a physiological condition of the patient. A processor matches the physiological parameters to stored surgical data associated with adverse surgical events associated with surgical procedures matching the surgery. The processor determines a predicted time at which the physiological condition of the patient will meet a threshold physiological condition associated with the adverse surgical event based on a rate of change of the physiological parameters. Responsive to determining the predicted time, the processor transmits a first alert to robotic surgical controls to adjust the surgery prior to the predicted time. The processor determines that the physiological condition of the patient has met the threshold physiological condition. The processor transmits a second alert to the robotic surgical controls to terminate the surgery.
