Abstract: Provided is a method and system for controlling data transmission in a 5G-V2X network. The 5G-V2X network has at least one defined geographical area including a plurality of traffic sensing devices (TSDs). Each of the TSDs is configured to provide data over one or more 5G channels to a V2X processing system via an edge gateway module (EGW) of the defined geographical area. The EGW includes a transmission controller (TC). The method comprises the TC dynamically adjusting a data transmission frequency of at least one TSD of the plurality of TSDs in accordance with a transmission control policy.

Abstract: An area alert management system (AAMS) for reducing false alerts in a road management system comprises a map data unit comprising map data for a defined geographical area. The defined geographical area includes at least one roadside unit (RSU) configured to receive data from one or more vehicle on-board data processing units. An alert analysis unit of the AAMS receives vehicle generated alerts. The AAMS includes a static environment data unit comprising static environmental data for said defined geographical area. Upon receiving a vehicle generated alert, the alert analysis unit uses a location associated with the vehicle generated alert to obtain data from any of the map data unit, the static environment data unit or sensor data and determines if the received vehicle generated alert is consistent with the obtained data. If not consistent, the alert is determined as a false alert.

Abstract: A method for improving road safety of a vehicle in a system having a plurality of communicatively connected roadside units (RSUs) placed within a defined geographical area, each RSU configured to receive data from a plurality of sources located within its respective coverage area forming part of said defined geographical area and to at least transmit the received data and/or data derived from the received data to one or more data processing units located within its coverage area. Abstract: Provided is a system for improving road safety of a vehicle. The system comprises a central management platform for managing a plurality of network cooperation engine (NCE) modules. Each NCE module manages a plurality of edge gateway devices (EGWs) which are each located in a respective defined geographical area of limited size. Each EGW communicates with multiple roadside units (RSUs) in its area and exchanges real-time and low latency information with said RSUs and with any vehicle on-board data processing units (ICGWs) in vehicles presently within its area. Each ICGW is adapted to be installable in a vehicle. The ICGW is configured to receive real-time data from one or more on-board vehicle modules. The ICGW is also configured to receive data from its EGW and the RSUs which are themselves configured to receive data from a plurality of sources located within said defined geographical area and to transmit said received data and/or data derived from said received data to said ICGW. The ICGW is configured to process data to autonomously determine any one or more of: a threat to the vehicle; an alert to be issued; and a control action to be implemented for the vehicle. A size of the defined geographical area may be selected such as to enable data from said EGW and/or RSUs to be transmitted to said ICGW in real-time or at least at or less than a first, low level of latency.

Abstract: A method for position and/or deviation correction of a moving object in a simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) environment. The method comprises receiving at the moving object point cloud data for an area associated with the moving object from a sensor located at a fixed location. A processor of the moving object performs the steps of: transforming the received point cloud data to a coordinate system of the moving object; matching the transformed point cloud data with point cloud data generated by a sensor at the moving object for the area associated with the moving object; and using the matched point cloud data to determine a corrected position and/or deviation of the moving object within a selected coordinate system.
