Provided is an image generating and retrieving apparatus that enables a user to easily find a desired image from a large number of image generation results. A similarity is calculated from a text feature amount and an image feature amount, a similar image similar to a retrieval target is retrieved from an image text database using the similarity, and an image generation process held in the image text database is visualized.

Example implementations described herein are directed to a tag using a color/pattern coding scheme for better use in industrial settings which may involve curved objects such as pipes. The tag can include one or more anchors indicative of an orientation of the tag; a calibration pattern mapping each of a plurality of colors/patterns to one or more values; and encoded information provided on the tag in one or more of the plurality of colors/patterns. The tag may be printed directly on the object to ensure longevity and readability, or attached as a sticker or printed label depending on the desired implementation.

An image processing device includes a processor, a storage unit coupled to the processor and storing an image database, and a display unit coupled to the processor. The processor obtains arrangement information of a first object on the display unit when the processor accepts an input of the first object via the display unit. The processor obtains first co-occurrence information using the first object and the arrangement information of the first object. The first co-occurrence information indicates a correlation relationship with the first object based on the image database. The processor outputs a candidate for a second object based on the first co-occurrence information to the display unit.

In example implementations described herein, person images obtained by object detection and tracking are stored in an image database. Then the system automatically samples a person image as a query of image search for past images. Filtering is performed on the search results to extract a person images having a similarity higher than certain threshold. Travel time is calculated by sorting information (camera identifier, time) attached to person images on a timeline, and the system detects gap between periods that the person appears in frame.

An image search system comprising an video taking unit that takes a video, a search unit that contains a processor and a storage unit and searches for an image contained in the video, an input unit that receives information that is input to the search unit, and a display unit that displays information that is output from the search unit. The storage unit holds information indicating the shapes of trajectories that represent the travel paths of a plurality of moving objects extracted from the video. When information indicating the shape of a trajectory is input from the input unit, the search unit searches the plurality of moving-object trajectories held in the storage unit for trajectories that are similar to the input trajectory shape, and if such a trajectory is found, the search unit displays, on the display unit, images of the moving objects that have traveled along the found trajectories.

It is provided an object detection method to be performed by an image analysis device configured with a computer including a processor and a memory, the object detection method comprising: a first step of receiving, by the processor, input of an image and storing the image to the memory; a second step of extracting, by the processor, a partial area which is a part of the input image and storing the partial area to the memory; a third step of evaluating, by the processor, symmetry of the partial area using features extracted from the partial area and reflected features obtained by applying reflection to the features; and a fourth step of determining, by the processor, that the partial area is an object area including an object to be detected in a case where the symmetry of the partial area is evaluated as higher than a predetermined threshold.

The image search technique makes it is possible to accurately search for similar images using many queries. To achieve this purpose, an image search device is provided and includes: an image storage unit which stores images and tag information about the images; an image input unit which receives an image; a search query generation unit which extracts, from the image, feature values for search queries; a similar image search unit which performs a similar-image search to obtain similar images and grouping information; a query grouping unit which divides the queries into groups in accordance with the obtained grouping information; a query group importance level determination unit which calculates the levels of importance of the groups; a search result generation unit which sorts the search results in accordance with the levels of importance of the groups; and a data output unit which outputs information about the search results for each group.
