摘要: One or a plurality of physical storage devices that provide a physical storage area are connected to first and second computers. The computer updates metadata indicating the address correspondence relationship between the logical address of the volume and the physical address of the physical storage area in the write processing performed based on a write request designating the volume. The first computer copies the metadata to the second computer while receiving the write request. When the address correspondence relationship indicated by the copied metadata portion is changed during copying of the metadata, the first computer updates the metadata portion and copies the metadata portion to the second computer.

摘要: This invention provides a storage system enabling it to properly rebuild a storage device involved in failure. In the storage system, a controller repairs data for which an access request has been issued, returns a reply to the source of the access request, and stores the repaired data. As regards data for which access is not requested, the controller executes rebuilding of storage regions corresponding to rebuild management units in priority-based order and changes priority for executing the rebuilding, based on access frequencies for a first period and access frequencies for a second period that is shorter than the first period.

摘要: In a case of exchanging a migration source storage controller and a migration destination storage controller sharing one storage medium during replacement of storage devices, when hardware configurations or data management forms of the storage controllers are different, data in the storage medium cannot be shared even when data management information can be copied. Accordingly, a storage system, having a storage control unit and a storage drive provided with a storage medium, includes data management information for accessing data in the storage drive. A first storage control unit copies data management information about the data in the storage drive to a second storage control unit. When a write request is received from a host after copying of the data management information begins, each of the first storage and second storage control units stores write data related to the write request in a separate storage area of the storage drive.

摘要: When a second storage device in a second site receives an update notification regarding a first element updated according to a write request from a first host, from a first storage device in a first site, for a second element specified on the basis of the update notification, the second storage device manages data of the first element corresponding to the second element as latest data. The first storage device provides a first volume capable of including a plurality of first elements. The second storage device provides a second volume capable of including a plurality of second elements corresponding to the plurality of first elements. When the second storage device receives a read request from a second host, the second storage device determines whether or not data of the first element corresponding to a read source second element (second element specified from the read request) is the latest data. When a determination result is true, the second storage device acquires the latest data from the first storage device and returns the latest data to the second host.

摘要: An intermediate device is disposed between a host and a search target. Search requests of m-multiplicity (requests involving a data transfer amount that is unknown to the host) for at least one among n-processes (n is an integer equal to or more than 1) to be executed by the host are issued as requests from the host to the intermediate device. A temporary area associated with the search requests is allocated in the host. For each of the search requests, the intermediate device recognizes a hit data volume in accordance with the search request within a search scope. For each of the search, the hit data is written in an area of the temporary area that corresponds to a write destination address. The write destination address is updated for each of the search requests on the basis of the recognized hit data volume.

摘要: Efficient communication between storage controllers can be performed. A storage system includes one or more backend switches that connect a first processor, a second processor, and one or more storage devices to each other. Each backend switch identifies a destination of a frame by referring to the frame received from the first processor. In a case where the destination of the frame is the second processor, each backend switch translates a first address, included in the frame, for specifying a location on the second memory in an address space of the first processor, into a second address for specifying the location on the second memory in an address space of the second processor, and transfers the frame including the second address to the second storage controller.
