    摘要： This invention relates to an exothermic emulsion polymerization method characterized by the presence of a low boiling fluid as a component of one of the phases of the emulsion system, said low boiling fluid having the following characteristics:(1) It is sufficiently inert so that it does not interfere with the polymerization reaction(2) It is capable of maintaining by reflux the polymerization system at relatively even and homogeneous temperature.This is exemplified by the use of a halogenated hydrocarbon boiling below about 50.degree. C. as the low boiling fluid.

    摘要： This invention relates to vinyl-type interpolymers having an overall carbon/oxygen atom ratio of about 2 to about 4, which is preferably derived from 2 types of vinyl monomers:(1) at least one vinyl-type monomer present in the interpolymer at about 50 mole % or greater and having a carbon/oxygen atom ratio of about 3 or less ("hydrophilic" monomer), and(2) at least one vinyl-type monomer present in the interpolymer at about 50 mole % or less and having a carbon/oxygen atom ratio of about 3 or more ("hydrophobic" monomer).Typical examples are vinyl acetate/vinyl fatty ester copolymers and vinyl acetate/dialkyl maleate copolymers. This invention also relates to uses for these compositions, particularly in the demulsification of W/O emulsions.

    摘要： This invention relates to adducts of salts of polymerizable tertiary amines with acrylic compounds illustrated by acrylamide and acrylonitrile; to polymers and copolymers containing said adducts and to processes for preparing them. This invention also relates to the use of said polymers and copolymers, particularly in the clarification of turbid waters by flocculation or flotation of oil and/or suspended solids. In the preferred embodiment, the quaternary adduct monomer is: ##STR1## where X is an anion, preferably halide such as chloride or carboxylate such as acetate; and polymers and copolymers containing units thereof.
