Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a video coder for predictive coding a video stream of subsequent frames according to motion compensation into an encoded video bit stream, comprising a frame buffer configured to store at least one reference frame of the video stream, a prediction unit configured to generate a prediction block of a current block of a current frame from a reference block of the reference frame according to a motion vector having fractional-pel resolution, the fractional-pel resolution defining an integer-pel position and fractional-pel positions. The prediction unit is configured to interpolate the reference block according to the fractional-pel resolution via one of the at least three following interpolation filters: a blurring interpolation filter, a tap filter, and the tap filter followed by a sharpening filter.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the iterative fast-search of more than one identified best blocks, corresponding to best patches within a search area, by early termination of the subblock iteration through comparison of a similarity measure to a similarity threshold. In particular, the positions of K-best matched-blocks, divided into multiple subblocks, are found for a reference block within an image search area. By performing subblock-based iterative calculations of the similarity measure between a block at a current position and the reference block within a search area, the iteration progresses as long as the similarity measure value remains larger than a threshold value, and the positions of the K-best patches are recorded in a storage medium, whereas the subblock iteration terminates when the similarity measure value is lower than the threshold value.

Abstract: A filter for video coding is provided, where the filter is configured for processing a block for generation of a filtered block, and the block comprises a plurality of pixels. The filter includes one or more processor configured to: obtain a quantization parameter (QP) of the block; obtain a threshold (THR) based on the QP; and obtain a look up table based on QP, so as to generate a filtered block based on the threshold and the look up table. Abstract: The disclosure relates to an in-loop filter apparatus for video coding, which is configured for processing a reconstructed frame corresponding to a current frame for generation of a filtered reconstructed frame, wherein the reconstructed frame comprises a plurality of pixels, each pixel being associated with a pixel value. The in-loop filter apparatus comprises a processing unit configured to: partition the reconstructed frame into a plurality of overlapping and/or non-overlapping 2D pixel blocks; generate for each 2D pixel block a 2D spectrum by applying a 2D transform to the 2D pixel block, wherein the 2D spectrum comprises a plurality of spectral components; generate for each 2D pixel block a filtered 2D spectrum by multiplying each spectral component with a respective gain coefficient, wherein the respective gain coefficient depends on the respective spectral component and/or one or more neighboring spectral components of the respective spectral component and one or more filtering parameters; generate for each 2D pixel block a filtered 2D pixel block by applying an inverse 2D transform to the filtered 2D spectrum; and generate the filtered reconstructed frame on the basis of the plurality of filtered 2D pixel blocks.

Abstract: A method for in-loop filtering by performing adaptive loop filtering on a reconstructed frame of a video stream, implemented by an encoding device or a decoding device, the method comprising forming differences between a pixel of the reconstructed frame and neighboring pixels in a connected area of the pixel, clipping the differences according to respective clipping levels, forming a weighted sum of the clipped differences, and adding the weighted sum to the pixel to determine a filtered pixel, wherein the respective clipping levels are chosen from a same set of clipping levels for the luma and chroma components.
