    Abstract: Uneven distribution of grass clippings in a grass clippings receptacle of a lawn mower can be minimized. A lawn mower includes: a work unit including a housing having a downward-facing opening and a cutter blade rotatably provided in the housing such that the cutter blade cuts grass and generates a transport air flow flowing from the opening of the housing to inside; a grass clippings receptacle configured to receive mowed grass clippings; a grass clippings transport passage connecting an interior of the housing with the grass clippings receptacle; a shutter device including a shutter configured to open and close the grass clippings transport passage and an actuator configured to open/close-drive the shutter; a controller configured to control the shutter device; and a speed sensor for detecting a travel speed of the lawn mower, wherein the controller is configured to open/dose-control the shutter device based on the travel speed.

    Abstract: In a walk behind mower (10), a clutch actuating mechanism (24) and a dog clutch (23) is included in the power transmission path for the driven wheels (13). The dog clutch includes an input end (23a) provided with teeth (231), an output end (23b) provided with teeth (232) configured to selectively mesh with the teeth of the first clutch half, and a spring member (26) interposed between the first clutch half and the second clutch half to normally urge the two clutch halves away from each other. The clutch actuating mechanism is configured to displace the two clutch halves toward each other against a biasing force of the spring member by using a drive force transmitted from the power source to the clutch actuating mechanism.

    Abstract: A lawn mower includes a hollow shaft, a cutter blade, flaps, a belt type continuously variable transmission, and a transmission mechanism. The cutter blade extends along a horizontal line which is perpendicular to the hollow shaft. The flaps are provided for the cutter blade. Each of the flaps has a flap angle changeable along the horizontal line. A control force converter unit of the belt type continuously variable transmission converts a displacement force of the movable sheave relative to the fixed sheave in an axial direction into a control force that controls the flap angle of the flaps. The transmission mechanism is accommodated inside the hollow shaft, and transmits the control force to the flaps.
