Abstract:
A process for detecting an alarm in an operating machine (1), so that an operator (7) is able to interact with such a machine (1) determining a connection between the machine and the ground, comprising the steps of: determining a current value of a main parameter representative of an electric interaction between said operator (7) and said operating machine (1) under a condition of normal operation of said machine (1); comparing said determined current value with a main reference value; activating an alarm procedure as a function of said comparison. The process further comprises a starting setting step wherein said main reference value is determined, said starting setting step comprising the steps of: detecting a first reference value of said main parameter under a condition of electric insulation between said operator (7) and operating machine (1); detecting a second reference value of said main parameter under a condition of electric conduction between said operator (7) and operating machine (1); said main reference value being determined in such a manner that it is an intermediate value between said first reference value and second reference value. The invention also describes a safety system (100) for carrying out the described process and an operating machine comprising such a safety system (100).
Abstract:
This invention involves a novel blade holder for use in food-processing machines particularly skinning machines. This blade holder has as two major elements a top and a bottom piece having at their front terminal portions a place where the blade is clamped. In the center section of each piece are a number of connecting screws or bolts which not only connect the top and bottom pieces but also act as a fulcrum. Thus, when the rear sections of the top and bottom pieces are forced apart by a lever action, their front terminal portions move tightly together to form a firm grip or clamp effect on the blade. To remove the blade, the rear sections are brought closer together thus releasing the tight clamp in the front terminal portions and thus releasing the blade.

Abstract:
Safety system for a manufacturing machine provided with at least one tool which can injure the operator, comprising a pair of gloves to be worn by the operator and provided with an outer surface of dielectric material and an electrically conductive inner surface; an alarm signal generator connected to the conductive inner surface; a processor unit connected to the metal machine members and to the at least one tool via a safety circuit arranged to sense the alarm signal when the operator cuts one of the gloves on coming into contact with one of the mechanical members of the machine, the processor unit being provided with circuitry for interrupting machine operation on sensing said alarm signal, in which the alarm signal is an alternating current signal the intensity of which is established by the processor unit on the basis at least of at least one of the physical characteristics of the operator, e.g. the electrical conductivity, as measured by a suitable circuit for determining at least this characteristic.
Abstract:
A unit for controlling the operation of the electric motor is provided together with a control device, electrically connected to the body of the operator, to act on the control unit via a relay means in such a manner as to halt and reverse the rotation of the electric motor following conductive contact between the operator's body and the metal component. For receiving and supporting the feet of the operator, two conductive plates insulated from the ground are provided in such a position that the operator rests his feet via conductive shoes on them when working with the machine. The plates are connected to the control device, and the metal component is electrically connected to earth. The support plates are electrodes for the passage of low voltage electric current from one plate to the other via the body of the operator. The control device stops the motor following conductive contact between the operator's hands and the metal component.

An industrial slicer comprises: a cutting station (1) that includes a plurality of blades (21, 22, 23) for slicing a food product, which blades (21, 22, 23) are spaced apart from each other by a cutting pitch, so as to obtain slices of said product having a thickness corresponding to the cutting pitch. The slicer also comprises adjustment means (5, 7, 3, 31, 41) for adjusting the distance between the blades (21, 22, 23).
Abstract:
The invention discloses a meat-cutting machine used in particular for cutting meat with bone, including a containment channel 10 holding a piece of meat 20 to be cut, the walls 11, 12, 13, 14 of which form a guide for feeding the piece of meat 20 to an outlet opening 15. At the opening 15, cutting device 30 cuts the piece of meat 20 in a timing sequence established by a user control unit 80.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a detachable top to be used with foldup ladders of the type described in co-pending applications Ser. Nos. 06/341,830; 06/492,487; and 06/537,276. Also, this top can be used with the slidable ladder described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,429,766. This ladder can be converted into many structures such as a workbench, table or step ladder. The top comprises a rectangular main portion and a narrower extending section. The main portion fits over and around the rails of the ladder (after conversion to a workbench) and the narrower extending section fits inside the rails but on substantially the same plane as the main portion.
