    摘要: A brake mechanism having a pressure actuated piston moving disc brake pad assemblies into braking engagement with a disc for service brake operation, and a mechanically actuated mechanism which mechanically moves the piston to engage the brake pad assemblies with the disc for a parking brake operation. The mechanical mechanism includes a one-way lock means mounted on a rotatable and axially movable shaft so that it maintains brake adjustment by sliding on the shaft with excess movement of the piston in the brake engaging direction, but locks on the shaft to prevent movement of the piston in the brake release direction beyond a small predetermined amount sufficient to establish brake pad and disc clearance. The piston is normally nonrotatable in its cylinder, but holding means preventing substantial piston rotation may be released to activate reset means for the one-way lock means so that rotational movement of the piston engages the one-way lock means and prevents it from locking on the shaft so as to permit movement of the piston into the cylinder to reset the piston position when new brake linings have been installed.

    摘要: A disc brake has a rotatable disc to be braked, a pair of opposed brake pad assemblies mounted in a brake caliper, and actuating mechanisms including a hydraulic piston and a ball and ramp actuator for parking brake actuation to move one of the brake pad assemblies into engagement with the disc, causing the disc to slide and engage the other brake pad assembly. The other brake pad assembly is fixed on the caliper by means of an adjusting screw, the nut of which may be indexed by an actuator lever pivotally mounted on the caliper between the brake pads so that arcuate movement of the inboard brake pad due to the ball and ramp actuation causes the actuator to pivot. With increased brake lining wear, greater arcuate movement of the inboard brake pad assembly occurs and the actuator is eventually moved sufficiently to index the adjusting screw nut and thereby move the outboard brake pad assembly toward the inboard brake pad assembly.

    摘要: A disc brake has a peripherally mounted and driven annular disc and a fixed caliper assembly with a caliper leg on either side of the disc and a caliper mounting section extending across the disc radially inward thereof. The inboard caliper leg has a hydraulically actuated piston and cylinder for service brake actuation. The outboard caliper leg has a radially movable parking bolt which is selectively engageable with a mating slot, several circumferentially spaced slots for this purpose being provided in the disc drive and retainer member. The caliper mounting section has a cam rotatably received therein and engaging the parking bolt. The cam is actuated through a rotatable shaft and lever connected to a suitable parking brake control mechanism. The parking bolt is urged into engagement with a mating slot by a compression spring. The cam is rotated in one direction to permit the parking bolt to so engage the slot, and is rotatable in the other direction to disengage the bolt.

    摘要: A bushing assembly installed in a sliding caliper, axially fixed rotatable disc, brake assembly in which the brake shoes transmit the brake torque to the caliper frame, which in turn transmits the brake torque to a fixed support member. The caliper assembly has a brake pad assembly including a brake shoe with ends extending laterally beyond the caliper frame and provided with a guide and support bushing assembly at each end, and a mounting plate operatively secured to the caliper frame. The mounting plate has laterally extending ends which each have a guide and support bushing assembly aligned with a similar arrangement in the noted brake shoe. Guide and support pins are fixed to the fixed support member and have portions extending through the bushing in the mounting plate and brake shoe ends so that the caliper is slidably supported and guided. Each bushing assembly includes an annular retainer having one end formed as an inwardly opening semi-torus and holding an elastomeric bushing engaging the associated pin in sliding relation, and the other end formed to lock the retainer in an aperture formed in the shoe or mounting plate end to which it is secured.

The piston has a screw and an adjuster nut threaded thereon, the nut being restrained from excess axial movement relative to a mechanically actuated shaft in one direction and a housing containing the piston and shaft in the other direction. The nut forms a part of a clutch arrangement which is actuated by the mechanically actuated shaft so that operative force transmitting engagement can occur between the shaft and the piston. The adjuster nut provides for clearance take-up and adjustment for lining wear during pressure brake actuation.
